OktoberFest 2012, Munich Germany Now in its 179th year & celebrating its 202nd birthday, Oktoberfest is the largest music and beer festival in the world. When: September 22 through October 7 Where: Theresierwiese (field, or meadow of Therese) Oktoberfest begins with a parade led by the Mayor of Munich & the Munchner Kindl and ceremonies begin at noon when the first keg is tapped by the Mayor of Munich. 14 beer tents to choose from each one more awesome than the other. ♦ Schottenhamel - Pure Tradition: The largest and most important tent of the Wiesn, everything starts inside this tent.
