You should also know that some boating offences can result in fines to both the operator of the boat as well as to the person (owner) who allowed the operation of the boat. Operating a power-driven boat (or electric) in excess of the maximum speed authorised $200 Operating a power-driven boat without the required age $100 Allowing a person without the required age to operate a power-driven boat $250 NOISE Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations Failing to have proof on competency on board $250 Small Vessel Regulations Failure to have the required pleasure craft licence on board $250 Operating a vessel with safety equipment not in good working order or not readily accessible and available for immediate use $200 Operating human-powered pleasure craft without personal flotation devices or lifejackets of appropriate size for each person on board Control buoy Keep out buoy Information buoy Diving buoy PortStarboard buoys Members of the MRC Memphremagog boating safety patrol are designated as enforcement officers for the purposes of pleasure craft regulation (Canada Shipping Act 2001), and authorized by the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions of Quebec to issue violation tickets, concerning the following federal regulations: Vessel Operation Restriction Regulations Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations Small Vessel Regulations The boating safety patrol is also authorized to enforce the following by-law through delegation of authority by the municipalities bordering Lake Memphremagog : By-law concerning nuisances and intended to prevent infestation by zebra mussels and other exotic invasive species (municipal jurisdiction) Provincial regulation By-law concerning the protection of the waters from discharge from pleasure crafts (provincial jurisdiction) The Memphremagog Regional Police and the Provincial Police SQ would like to inform users of small craft that regulations exist concerning noise on the lakes which they patrol. you are boating. These rules are there to ensure quietude in the whole population. We ask the cooperation of the lake users to ensure tranquility of the neighborhood, especially when boats are anchored in a bay. Those who contravene the noise-related regulation could be fined. $200 plus $100 for each PFD or lifejacket missing Operating a power-driven vessel: (1) without a muffler that is in good working order (2) equipped with a muffler not conform Operating a vessel to tow a person on water or in air : (1) without seating space on board for every person being towed (2) without a person on board other than the operator keeping watch on every person being towed Operating a boat : (1) in a careless manner, without due care and attention for others (2) without taking all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of every person on board REGULATIONS CONCERNING As a boater, you are required to know the rules & regulations that apply to your boat as well as to the waters where $250 $500 IMPAIRED DRIVING While navigating, the sun, wind, heat and water are important factors that considerably enhance the effects of alcohol. Information buoys are installed in some areas of the lake.
