The Centre for Geomechanics and Railway Engineering and the Australian Geomechanics Society under the auspices
of ISSMGE will be organising the International Conference on Ground Improvement and Ground Control: Transport
Infrastructure Development and Natural Hazards Mitigation. The Conference will be held at the McKinnon Building of
University of Wollongong, Australia, during October 30 - November 2, 2012. The Conference will be aimed at promoting
ground improvement concepts and applications predominantly in the fields of transportation geotechnology and
natural hazards mitigation. This Conference will act as a platform to disseminate the most recent research and field
advances to the geotechnical community around the globe and is expected to be the biggest Ground Improvement
conference to be held in Australia. Outstanding keynote lectures, State of Art (SOA) presentations, heritage lectures
and numerous technical discussions will contribute three days of scientific and technical discourse followed by
attractive excursion encompassing the natural landscape of the south coast of New South Wales.
