At 12.00 noon on Saturday October 13th, the 4th Battalion (Territorial), many who have seen service in
Afghanistan, and the veterans of the Staffordshire Regiment will be marching through the town to Market Square with ‘bayonets fixed and banners flying’ to be presented with the Freedom of Hednesford in
recognition of the many years’ association they have with our town. Leading the parade will be the Band
of the 4th Battalion escorted by a colour party and the regimental mascot, Watchman 5 led by WO2
Hedges accompanied by Hednesford Army Cadets. Many local dignitaries including Brigadier Williams,
Deputy Colonel of the Mercian Regiment, The Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, several ex-Majors of the
regiment and Hednesford Town Council, among many others, will then attend the dedication ceremony
at the clock of a memorial stone by Rev. Paul Kelly from St. Peter’s Church, which has been donated by
a local businessman. Local school choirs will be leading the hymns. This will be a memorable day for
Hednesford so let’s all turn out and give them the rousing welcome they all so richly deserve.
For more information on the story behind the Staffordshire Regiment, see our website.
Win with Hednesford Lotto!
The all-new Hednesford Lotto has been
successfully running since its re-launch in
February this year and has already donated over £1200 to local good causes
and over £2000 to lucky winners. Are
you one of them? Tickets are available
from all the outlets in town displaying the
official lotto signs. The promoter, Stef
Cunningham from The Kitchen Cupboard in Market Street says “Depending
on the success, more tickets will be
made available. The more we sell, the
bigger the prizes and greater the benefit
for the community. It’s great news that
the new Lotto will be helping the community and it’s great for Hednesford.”
Hednesford Traders are using the proceeds to exclusively benefit the local community. You, too, can help and win at the
same time. Everyone wins with
Hednesford Lotto!!

The Little Lingerie Shop
Behind the scenes
of the traders in
Hednesford who
provide that little
bit of extra
service to YOU,
the customer.
The Little Lingerie shop was
opened in 2011 by former
community nurse, Julie Lockett.
Following many years of experience, Julie decided to open
her shop specialising in lingerie
for maternity and post-surgery
mastectomy clients in Cardigan
Place initially but now has
moved to bigger premises on
Market Street, . A home visit
service for mastectomy ladies is
available within a 10 mile radius
for those who are unable to
visit the shop.
As well as stocking a small
selection of nightwear, The
Little Lingerie Shop carries a
range of well known brands
including Anita, Amoena,
Royce, Panache, Bassoni,
Naturana and Camille with
styles to suit everyone.
Bra Bank.
Julie’s shop is also a collection
point for Bra Bank, an initiative
to raise money for research
into breast cancer. Old or
unwanted bras can be donated
at the shop and they are then
sold abroad. Most will go to
remote villages in Kenya and
Zimbabwe through charity,
56 Market Street,
Hednesford WS12 1AG
Villages of Hope, enabling those in
need to gain physical support and
comfort with the help of a preloved bra. With a wealth of experience in her field, Julie is the ideal
person to give invaluable advice to
ladies in need of her services.
Julie can be contacted during business hours on 07870 983611
Community toilets in the town?
Have your
say on the
hottest
issues of the
day
HEDNESFORD
Since the demise of the much
loved Aquarius Ballroom in the
town the most pressing issue
has been, ‘Where can I spend
a penny in Hednesford’? Well
the answer has been, only in
the Lightworks until that was
closed and the library, which
has been a relief, but hardly
the answer.
The council will not build new
HERALD
toilets because of the on-going
maintenance costs but we
think the answer is…………
look after them ourselves!
Quite a few towns have community toilets where they are
looked after to a very high
standard by members of the
community, for the community. Clean, nicely decorated,
fresh flowers and regularly
monitored and maintained, this surely
is the answer to this very important
issue.
What do you think? Would you be
happy to volunteer? Let us know so
we can make a bid to the council to
provide this crucial facility for shoppers and visitors in the town.
Email us at ourhtc@hotmail.co.uk
or get on Facebook and make your
views known.

Totally Locally
Some of you may have
seen news reports about
this scheme which has been up and running
in Stone. Hednesford Traders Association
has applied to be involved with this successful project to help boost the local economy.
The idea is to encourage every member of
the local community to spend just £5 per
week with local independent traders in the
town. Surprisingly, this would pump between £3-4 million pounds into Market St.
Yes you did read that right, MILLIONS!!
Which means more jobs, better facilities and
a nicer place to live.
Makes you think, doesn’t it!
We want to encourage new diverse independent businesses to come into the town
to trade and this will show that Hednesford
is a vibrant town supported by the local
community.
Support our efforts to bring prosperity.
