Holocaust Commemoration Assembly, April 20th, 10.20 -11.50AM, Auditorium
Students in grades 8 - 12, parents, teachers and guests are invited to a commemoration assembly with
guest speaker Alan Moskin. Mr. Moskin is a motivating speaker and will share his stories while he
served in the United States Army during World War II from September 1944 till August 1946. He was a
member of the 66th infantry, 71st Division, part of General George Patton's 3rd Army. Alan's outfit
fought in combat through France, Germany and Austria during which time he was promoted in rank
from Private to Staff Sergeant. At the beginning of May 1945, his Company participated in the liberation
of the Gunskirchen Concentration Camp, a sub-camp of Mauthausen. After the war ended, Alan
remained in Europe until June 1946 as a member of the U.S. Army of Occupation.

Schülerinnen und Schüler der 8-12 Klasse, Eltern, Lehrer und Gäste sind eingeladen zur Holocaust
Gedenkveranstaltung der German International School New York. Alan Moskin wird über seine
Erfahrungen erzählen, die er als US Soldat während des Zweiten Weltkrieges hatte. Von September 1944
bis August 1946 hatte Alan Moskin Einsätze in Frankreich, Deutschland und Österreich. Anfang Mai 1945
befreite seine Kompanie das Konzentrationslager Gunskirchen, welches dem Konzentrationslagers
Mauthausen untergeordnet war. Mr. Moskin verblieb in Europa bis Juni 1946 als Soldat der
Besatzungsarmee der USA.

Genießen Sie einen herrlichen, zweistündigen Segelausflug
zur Freiheitsstatue und rund um die Südspitze von
Manhattan auf dem klassischen Zweimastschoner
"Shearwater", erbaut im Jahre 1929. Nach dem Ablegen
von dem North Cove Yacht Harbor, wird die Crew die
Motoren abstellen und die Segel hissen. Halten Sie Ihre
Kameras bereit für einen atemberaubenden Blick auf New
Yorks Skyline, die Freiheitsstatue und vieles mehr.
Verpassen Sie nicht diese wunderbare Gelegenheit das
Ambiente eines traditionellen Segelschiffs im weltbekannten Hafen von New York zu erleben.
Anreise:

08:17 Uhr mit der Bahn ab White Plains oder ab anderen Standorten (bitte über
aktuelle Abfahrtzeiten vorher erkundigen) – Ankunft in Grand Central 08:56 Uhr.
09:04 Uhr Weiterfahrt mit der Subway 4 oder 5 (downtown) bis Fulton Street. Von
dort braucht man nochmals 12 Minuten zu Fuß bis zur North Cove Marina.
Beginn /Treffpunkt:

Treffpunkt für alle Teilnehmer ist um 09:40 Uhr am Schiff „Shearwater“ in der North
Cove Marina. Das Segelschiff wird pünktlich um 10:00Uhr ablegen.
Kosten:
•
$45.00 pro Person (Metro North und Subway-Fahrkarten sind von jedem selbst zu
besorgen). Das Schiff segelt bei jedem Wetter – bitte entsprechend kleiden.
Max. Teilnehmerzahl:

40 Personen; es gilt das “first come, first served”- Prinzip.
Bitte einen Umschlag mit Eurer schriftlichen, verbindlichen Anmeldung inkl. Bargeld (keine

Enjoy a gorgeous two-hour sail out to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis
Island and around the southern tip of Manhattan on the
beautiful 82-foot schooner „Shearwater“, hand built in 1929.
After motoring out from the North Cove Yacht Harbor, the
crew will raise the sails and hit the sea. Have your camera
ready for stunning views of New York’s skyline, the Statue of
Liberty and other iconic landmarks.
Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to experience the
ambiance of a vintage sailing vessel in the magnificent New York Harbor.
Getting there:
• 8:17am Leave White Plains train station or alternative stations for Grand Central
(please check the effective train times in advance).
9:04am Proceed directly with the downtown subway 4 or 5 to Fulton Street.
Walk to North Cove Marina, approx. 12 minutes.
Begin/Meeting point:
• Meeting point for all participants will be 9:40am at North Cove Marina. Please
be there on time - the ship will leave at 10:00am.
Cost:
• $45.00 per person (Metro North and subway tickets are not included). The ship
will sail rain or shine – please dress accordingly.
Max. group size:
• 40 participants. Registration will be on a “first come, first served” basis.
