The Munich region is one of Europe's foremost business locations, playing a
leading role in the IT, media, life sciences and finance industries in particular. A
singularly diverse economic structure – a strong manufacturing base coupled with
a diversified tertiary sector, not to mention a healthy mix of global players and
SMEs – provides fertile soil for the continued successful development of the
region's economy. Munich is also a highly attractive location for foreign companies
and employees with international activities. An extensive array of preschools,
kindergartens, schools and other educational establishments in the Bavarian
capital ensures an excellent education for the children of foreign entrepreneurs
and employees.
Wide range of public schools
Munich has a broad selection of public schools to choose from. The City of Munich
itself and the Free State of Bavaria run a total of over 320 educational
establishments within the city boundaries, including almost 190 elementary, junior
high and special schools, 23 secondary schools, more than 38 high schools and
two municipal comprehensive school. There is also an array of evening classes,
vocational and business schools, and an assortment of technical colleges etc., as
well as a number of private schools.
