ABOUT ME
I remember having dinner at my parent’s house, as a teenager, with Oscar de la Renta as our guest of honor, and realizing that
every piece of clothing and every accessory he had on that night were as important to his aura of elegance as his demeanor, wit
and charm.
That’s one of the many lessons I’ve learned as a stylist: the clothes, I thought, partly make the man... and the woman. Having had
Dominican celebrities, female entrepreneurs and socialites among my clients, I’ve learned that icons are sometimes created, not
born. By working with a share of visionary Latin American, American and European designers, I’ve been able to distill the elegance of my clients and project a renewed vision of themselves onto the pages of several of the country’s most renowned publications.
As I am now expanding my work to the Latino market in the United States and widening the radius of international exposure
for my clients, I’m interested in collaborating with partners in the fashion industry, in order to promote our shared vision with
my clients as a medium, as well as conducting trunk shows for the high-end Dominican customer.

Celeb styling: Mariela Encarnación
In early 2015, CNN en Español presenter Mariela Encarnación was planning
to attend the most prestigious Dominican awards, El Soberano —think Oscars,
Grammys and Emmys all rolled into one— as an international guest. As fellow
Dominicans, we planned an homage to Oscar de la Renta, by dressing her in a
breathtaking black strapless gown with tropical-inspired flowers accented by his
his signature tassel earrings. The local media labeled Encarnación as one of the
best dressed women of the event.

Celeb styling: Nashla Bogaert
Think of Nashla Bogaert as the Dominican Republic’s answer to Sandra Bullock’s
relatability, Jennifer Lawrence’s charm and Salma Hayek’s sex appeal. After being
an actress and TV presenter for more than a decade, Nashla was ready to wear
the shoes of a film producer. As a new entrepreneur, she requested my services
to promote a more mature, stronger version of herself. My team and I then provided head-to-toe styling assistance for events, editorial work, TV presentations
and social media looks. After this two-month project, her very large audience
—in a country of 10 million, Nashla has more than 350,000 followers on her Instagram account— complimented her new look, and saw the intention behind it:
many actually became vocal about the fact that in 2015, Nashla became the boss,
and meant business.

Celeb styling: Miralba Ruiz
Think of Miralba Ruiz as the Dominican Republic’s answer to Katie Couric: likable yet respected, young yet experienced, Miralba is now transitioning from lifestyle TV into corporate communications and brand spokesperson. Using her tall
and slender yet curvy figure, I created a sensually elegant lookbook for her, based
on pantsuits, natural materials and figure-hugging minimalist dresses, while balancing her skin tone by subduing the copper tones in her read hair.

Editorial styling: In the Sky with Diamonds
With a background comprised of pieces by Mary Katranzou, Opening Ceremony, Phillip Lim, Alice +
Olivia, Peter Pilotto and Josh Goot, it was time for the accessories to shine: in this editorial, published in
a nationwide magazine in the Dominican Republic, I featured rings, purses, shoes, eyewear and
bracelets by Charlotte Olympia, Kelly Wearstler, Jimmy Choo, Roland Mouret and Balenciaga,
among others.

Editorial styling: Ángel Sánchez
I first met Venezuelan designer Ángel Sánchez in 2012 while working in Dominicana Moda, the local fashion week. Since then, and
thanks to my many working trips to New York, we’ve established a fantastic professional rapport. I was thrilled to be given a private
sneak peek of his Spring/Summer 2015 collection, and my team and I used this opportunity to showcase my favorite pieces from the
group. The resulting editorial was published in Mujer Única magazine.

Designer showcase: Oscar de la Renta
Months after his death, I decided to turn my biannual Fashion Week publication into
a tribute to Oscar de la Renta. The 24- page special, which circulates nationwide and
reaches a high-end audience in the Dominican Republic, features some of my discoveries in the New York and Paris fashion weeks, as well as interviews with up-and-coming
designers and show reviews. As a farewell editorial, shot in Central Park in the middle
of the winter, my team and I showcased the last collection designed by Oscar himself.

Dominican designer Fernando García recently created his own fashion line, but back when this interview took place in New York,
García was still working for the Oscar de la Renta house. This interview, also published in my biannual Fashion Week special,
discussed the post-Oscar transition and his plans for the future.

Editorial styling: In the Sky with Diamonds
As one of the main names in the local fashion industry, I’ve cultivated a loyal and ever-growing online
audience of followers. I’ve presented co-branded work with international brands such as S.Pellegrino
—I was the ambassador for the S.Pellegrino + Vogue Young Talents contest—, Moroccanoil, Essie,
American Express, Mini Cooper, Hublot, Kryolan, Avène, Presidente and Villa Jolanda Winery.
