Earlier, Nepal remained unpresented in the international beauty
pageants. Today our young Nepali
women are getting enough opportunities and the experience to represent Nepal abroad. Jaycees aim is
to develop leadership qualities and
provide a forum for individuals to
discover their own hidden talent
that come out with perseverance
and varied trainings.
Miss Nepal’s objective rests on
two pillars: personality and leadership development.
The organizers are basically in
search of a personality that combines
beauty, brain, confidence, a positive
mind and one who will be able
to represent Nepal as its worthy
ambassador to the outside world.
A strong Miss Nepal must also
possess interests in issues relating
to empowering women, engage in
social service and in promoting issues
related to women. In 1995, to give the
Miss Nepal pageant a more substance
and professional approach, senior
members of Kathmandu Jaycees who
were involved in organizing the First
Miss Nepal Pageant established The
Hidden Treasure, which now annually organizes Miss Nepal Pageants.
Some of the revenue generated from
Miss Nepal Pageants has meaningfully used in the various community development projects of JCI
Kathmandu-Nepal.

message
By any standard two decades of Miss Nepal Pageant
has been a remarkable journey. It has been a journey
of turmoil and triumph, strength and courage, guts
and glory, hope and honor. An experience of crowning
glory in the continuous pursuit of finding beauty with
a purpose.
During these challenging years and with the support and encouragement of the public and the press,
Miss Nepal Pageant has not only silenced the skeptic
and the critics but has broken the top 5 barrier in Miss
Nepal World Pageant while wining the prestigious
Beauty with a Purpose Award. Today, Miss Nepal is a
national product having an international image.
It is broad-based moving away from being
Kathmandu- centre as audition are taking places in
different parts of the country like Chitwan, Pokhra,
Dharan, Birtnagar, Butwal and Bhairahwa, while
overseas participation are surprisingly on the rise. The
scores of selected finalists receive 6 weeks of extensive
training imparted by the best professional that are
available here and the contestants are trained to first
believe in themselves, rather it is more important to win
the crown of life than Miss Nepal Crown and that to be
a role –model in the society rather than just a model.
Participating in Miss Nepal Pageant for the contestants
must be a journey to remember for a life time.
The Hidden Treasure belives that women hold the
key to a thriving world. They are initiating, leading
and creating projects and organization across different
fields, industries, companies, communities and nations. Through Miss Nepal Pageant we would like to
offer a platform where the contestants enrich their

skills, boost their confidence and grow into feminine,
authentic and global leaders; realize change. It is also
a forum where the contestant develops the body, mind
and spirit shaping their intrinsic potentials, to become
a future heavy global youth.
In short Miss Nepal is not just a Beauty Pageant,
but something more substantial and serious.
Down the years Miss Nepal Pageant has received
remarkable support and encouragement from many
sectors making it an important date in the nation’s
calendar and an event looked forward to by the public
and the press. Hidden Treasure wishes to take this
opportunity to extend out deep appreciation to all our
sponsors, supporters, advisors, all our partners, well
wishers, parents and the contestants for their continued
support for the successful conduction of the pageant
every year. We would like to thank and show our
gratitude to Bottlers Nepal Ltd as our main sponsor for
the third year running and also would like to welcome
our new co-sponsor Gionee (mobile). There are lots of
many other institutions and organizations which has
extended continued support and help towards the Miss
Nepal Pageant, to them all The Hidden Treasure is
continually indebted.
I cordially invite you to relax and enjoy as the 20th
edition of Miss Nepal Pageant 2015, folds before you, at

MESSAGE
Greetings everyone!!
I hope you are having a wonderful evening. The same evening
when one of the women will be
recognized as Miss Nepal.
The moment when I was announced as Miss Nepal 2014 is still
fresh in my memories where I was
standing numb and speechless.
As the 19th batch of Miss Nepal,
my endeavour has been meaningful and equally challenging.
As Miss Nepal, I have always
believed that we are more than
pretty women. I had the opportunity to stumble on opinions which
were rather contradictory to me.
We are sometime judged as being
22
an object of beauty.
Besides name and fame, Miss
Nepal has gifted me one of the
important thing i.e. realization
of originality. Comparison and
Conclusion are our human nature
but while doing so, we tend to
ignore our originality. There are
no criteria of being beautiful unless we create our own originality.
I embraced my originality and
wanted to represent our country in
one the prestigious event of Miss
World which I would say a gift of
Miss Nepal.
I cannot forget the emotional
moment when I saw our flag
among the thousands of audiences
at the international arena cheering for Nepal. I saw how much a
unity can be brought from such
beauty pageant. During my Miss
World Journey, I was no longer
Subin, Nepal was my name and
each participant is addressed by
their country name. This was my
proudest moment where not only
me but an entire country was
confined within me. Honestly, the
feeling of being watched and being
judged is very daunting but this
delivers us a lesson of maturity
and focus.
At my last note, I would like to
congratulate The Hidden Treasure
family for completing 20 years of
glorious life of empowering Nepalese women. I would especially
like to commend on the effort of
reaching women from different
nook and corner of the country
for Miss Nepal. Finally, to all the
beautiful strong Nepalese Women
and to all the participants of Miss
Nepal my best wishes will always
be there and not to forget, we are
all treasures and we should learn
to respect ourselves.
Good Luck!
Regards
Subin Limbu
LOOKING
BACK HOW
I IMAGINED
MISS
WORLD?
Subin Limbu
Miss Nepal World
From the things that I have heard about
Miss World was all about being glamorous, uptight and forward. We have to look
perfect and outshine everyone. Throughout
these years, Miss World was something
that I could never dream of and the image
that such international beauty pageant is
of very high standards and an example of
perfection of women. For me, the picture
of Miss World was very glamorous, exciting but not very competitive.
Irealizedthe
factthatthe
biggestbattleis
thebattlewith
yourself,not
withothers.
How Miss World was to me?
First of all, I took time for me to
mingle around with the contestants. I
thought I would enjoy the whole process
of representing my country but the situation was different. The entire environment
was very competitive and in order to win,
people were not who they were. Unlike
Miss Nepal, our choreographer made a
distance with all the contestants to avoid
any bad consequences and for the Miss
World Member we are just the contestants
but not the representative of the country
so over reaction to these member was
bit inappropriate. When I stepped on the
hotel, my energy was up to 100 percent
and with the same spirit to win. Honestly,
maintaining the same spirit throughout
the whole months was very challenging.
Each of the day was test to me because we
were judged by everyone even the room
that we stayed were judged (I anticipated
that). Wearing full make up and looking
glamorous just for 15 minutes dinner is
no joke. To this extent, we have to excel
from breakfast to dinner and every event.
As the Miss World finals were approaching, the new Miss World was predicted
and the results for the fast tracks were
announced- this was the ultimate battle
with oneself to have that same energy
and zeal. It was tiring and sometimes it
gets on your nerves but at the end of the
day, I willingly did as Miss Nepal and as
representative of our country.
However, my learning from Miss World
has helped me to grow more. I realized
the fact that the biggest battle is the battle
with yourself, not with others. Not getting
any titles from Miss World has frustrated
me but I realized that accepting things
how they and looking forward is the only
option in every battle of our life.
23
MESSAGE
SONIE RAJBHANDARI
It all
beganfrom
thecrowning
moment..
24
I remember my audition for
Miss Nepal final contestants as if
it happened just yesterday! I had
travelled for six hours straight
from Pokhara, had barely 4 hours
of sleep, and was a nervous wreck
when I showed up panel of judges
(all the while trying to rock a 5-inch
heel, let me add). But I kept a cool,
calm and confident exposure the
entire time as I answered all the
panelists’ question, but one of the
questions stuck with me throughout
my journey. I was asked, “Do YOU
think you can make it?”
I had never walked a ramp
before and never had my
makeup done. I did not come from
a glamour background nor had I
participated in a pageant before. I
neither had the training, experience
nor the connections in the capital
that many thought one needs to
become the winner. But I had a fiery
passion that no one else could beat.
When many around me doubted
me, that was when I felt myself
getting stronger than ever. It was
sheer determination that pushed
me through. It’s not that I wasn’t
scared. But then again, I’ve always
believed that if your dreams don’t
scare you, they’re not big enough!
Participating in Miss Nepal was
definitely the biggest risk I have
taken in my life when I knew that
many, many odds were against me.
But sometimes, you have to risk
everything for that one dream that
no else can see but you!
I have made countless precious memories during my reign
all through the year. It all began
from that crowning moment of
that fateful evening of May 5, 2014.
And it hasn’t been the same ever
since! I won’t be exaggerating if I
said that everything since then has
been grander and larger than life.
There has been an avalanche of
love, good wishes and warm vibes
from the entire people of my lovely
hometown of Pokhara. It has been
a matter of incredible pride that I
was able to bring home the crown
to Pokhara after 17 years. Similarly,
the reception I received in Tokyo
from Nepalese supporters as well as
the Japanese people when I visited
Fukuoka and Tokyo was simply
unreal and incredibly humbling.
I have received so much love and
recognition because of the prestigious title I have with me. And I
have made every effort to carry the
responsibilities that come with this
crown with utmost respect, dignity
and humility wherever I go, including the stage of Miss International
2014 pageant in Japan.
What an incredible experience
it was spending two enriching
weeks with gorgeous and intelligent
beauty queens/Ambassadors from
80 different countries. I might have
been away from Nepal during
that time but I felt right at home
among all the contestants. I made
few life-long friends and absolutely
loved showing off my nation, our
culture, heritage and values among
everyone there
One particular moment that
brings back an especially hearttouching memory was an instance
behind the stage after the pageant.
One of my closest friends, Miss
Colombia who had just won the
title of Miss Friendship in Miss
International came up to me,
holding her sash, gave me the
biggest hug and exclaimed, “This
should’ve been yours!” It still
fills me up with so much pride to
recall that just as I had won the
hearts of my fellow contestants
here in Nepal and won the Miss
Friendship title, I was able to
make lasting impression among
international contestants as well!
When all is said and done, I
cannot deny the fact that my experience as Miss Nepal International
2014 has not only introduced me
to the world, but that it has been a
catalyst in helping me discover the
tremendous inner strength, courage,
resilience and unshakeable determination that I had within myself.
The entirety of last year as Miss
Nepal International was like a
fairytale. All the experiences that
ranged from the iconic moment of
being crowned, representing Nepal
in Tokyo, engaging with youths,
top entrepreneurs, political leaders,
including Aang Sang Sui Kii have
been simply extraordinary. Now,
moving forward, my Master’s degree in Business is the most immediate priority. I have always been a
strong advocate of education being
the most powerful means to women
empowerment. I’m on a personal
mission to challenge the misconception in our society that personalities
in the field of glamour, especially
among female celebrities, are not
highly educated or intellectuals.
A beautiful woman is a beautiful
woman, but a beautiful woman
with a brain is an absolutely lethal
combination.” I couldn’t have said it
better! That was said by the incredibly talented Prabal Gurung and it’s
a quote I live by!
My biggest, sincerest and the
most heartfelt thanks goes to the
incredible family of The Hidden
Treasure. This includes everyone
from Gopal sir, Shweta ma’am,
Sakil, Rachana ma’am, Had it not
been for their reassuring trust in
me, I would have missed out on the
richest experience I could ask for
as Miss Nepal International 2014.
I will remain forever indebted to
them and shall be THT’s strongest
cheerleader for life!
Love.

The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) was established in 1982
by a legislative act as an autonomous
and notfor- profit organization, mandated to work in the field of nature
conservation in Nepal.
The Trust, in past 3 decades, has
successfully implemented various
projects to fulfill the need and demands
of communities on nature and wildlife
conservation, biodiversity as well as
cultural heritage protection, ecotourism, alternative energy promotion,
gender empowerment, agriculture
and livestock support and community
based health services for sustainable
development of the community. The
Trust’s experience over the years has
shown that conservation efforts in low
income economy, such as Nepal, cannot be successful, much less sustainable, unless the needs and welfare of
the local people are addressed. Holistic
and integrated conservation and development programs with active people’s
participation aimed at promoting local
guardianship is the focus of all the
Trust activities. Geographically, the
Trust activities have spread from the
sub-tropical plains of Chitwan, Bardia,
Kanchanpur and Parsa in the lowlands to the Annapurna, Manaslu and
Gaurishankar region of the high Himalayas, including the trans-Himalaya
region of Upper Mustang and Manang.
Currently, the Projects of Trust are
divided into three geographical areasthe lowland, the mid hills (Kathmandu
Valley) and the high mountains. The
Trust’s activities in the lowlands are
based in and around the Chitwan National Park, the Parsa Wildlife Reserve,
the Bardia National Park and the
Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve located
in the central, western and far-western
development regions of Nepal, through
the Biodiversity Conservation Center
(BCC)/Parsa Conservation Program
(PCP) in Chitwan and Parsa, the
Bardia Conservation Program (BCP) in
Bardia and the Shuklaphanta Conservation Program (SCP) in Kanchanpur.
Similarly, the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA), the Manaslu Conservation Area (MCA) and the Gaurishankar
Conservation Area (GCA) are the three
protected areas managed by the Trust
in the mountain region. The Central
Zoo is the only project of the Trust in
Kathmandu Valley.

APPRECIATION/ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Nepal Airlines Corporation
(NAC) was incorporated on 1 July
1958 through enactment of Nepal
Airlines Corporation Act. 2019
with the main objective to provide
air transport service to any person, agency or organization who
need such service for transportation of men or materials from one
airport to another either within or
outside the country.
The aviation history of Nepal
started in early 1950’s. Initially,
neighboring Indian aircraft used
to land on a mere cow grazing
place called Gaucharan in
Kathmandu. There are tales that
a pilot waiting to land there had
to buzz the airfield several times
to shoo the cows off it before
landing. Until 1951, only a few foreigners had penetrated into Nepal.
They were mainly British officers
of the Gurkha troops, a few stray
scholars and friends of the Royal
family. Later on, Indian air companies started their operation for
business purposes, and connected
Nepal with Indian cities. After
the establishment of the national
flag carrier, the RNA, the route
expansion of civil aviation made
extensive progress domestically
and internationally. The civil
aviation service started in Nepal
in 1953 with three old American
-made DC-3 Dakotas belonging
to an Indian company. After five
years, Nepal established her own
registered airline, Royal Nepal
Airlines Corporation in July
1958 with one DC-3. There were
only 96 personnel then. At the
beginning,its service was limited
to Indian cities like Patna, Calcutta and Delhi in the International
Sector and to Simara, Pokhara
and Biratnagar in the Domestic
Sector. The facilities provided at
that time were limited. Royal Nepal took over an international
schedule in 1960. Starting with a
fleet of Douglas DC-3’s, the
airline quickly moved on to the
turboprop Fokker F-27. The commissioning of the remarkable
Twin Otter and Pilatus Porter
aircraft into the Royal Nepal
Airlines fleet in 1970s brought
about a quick and easy way of
accessing many of the remote
regions of the kingdom. By the
early 1970s the airline had introduced Hawker Siddeley HS-748
turboprops, and Boeing 727 jet
airliners were introduced
in 1972 after Kathmandu’s runway
had been extended for medium
sized jet operations. The Boeing
727s were gradually replaced by
Boeing 757s. At present NAC operates 6 international destinations
namely Delhi, Bangkok, Hong
Kong, and Kuala Lumpur, Dubai
and Doha. In Domestic operations
it connects more than 25 destinations inside Nepal. The transport
system being the main factor
for the economic development of
the country, and NAC is a strong
vehicle for national integration
and has proved to be a symbol of
freedom movement, both within
and outside the country. It is the
pride of Nepal.
ASIA’S FIRST AIRLINE
Philippine Airlines, Asia’s first airline, took to the skies on March 15, 1941
with a small twin-engine Beech Model
18, flying 212 km. from Manila to Baguio with a full load of five passengers.
Thus began the airline’s multi-faceted
journey through Philippine history.
Today, PAL operates wide- and
narrow- bodied aircraft consisting

THAI'S HISTORY IN NEPAL: On
4th December, 1968, Kathmandu
inhabitants had their first glimpse
of Thai's 72 seater SE 210 Caravelle aircraft as it marked history
by gliding down smoothly on the
unfamiliar runway. The absence
of any fencing in the airfield allowed curious onlookers to throng
around the aircraft and marvel at
its size, shape and in particular
at the huge billowing parachute
which helped aircraft to stop. This
first passenger jet aircraft to ever
land in the Kathmandu Valley
was greeted in traditional; Nepalese style with offering of flowers
and coins by on looking crowd.
THAI was the first ever-airlines
to operate jet service from
Kathmandu and the airlines that
opened the Himalayan Kingdom
as a new tourist destination to
the world. It was a spectacular
and memorable event in Nepalese
Aviation history.
In the beginning, THAI operated
once a week flight between Bangkok and Kathmandu and soon
after one more flight was added
to cope with the high demand of
passengers. During 1969, aircraft
was upgraded to DC9-41 followed
by DC8-33 in 1972 and AB300¬B4
in 1980. From the end of October,
1997, THAI operates daily flights to
Bangkok with A300-600 aircraft.
For the short period of OctoberDecember, 1998, THAI operated
its flight with A330 aircraft. THAI
introduced B777-200 aircraft from
November, 1998 which continued
operate until today.
THAI also introduced first computerized reservation system in
Kathmandu in February, 1985 and
provided this facility to its leading
of Boeing B747- 400s, B737- 400s and
B737- 300s; and Airbus A340- 300s,
A330- 300s and A320- 200s. There are
currently 17 cities and towns being
serviced by PAL in its domestic operations and 37 points in its international
operations.
Philippine Airlines’ 70- year tradition of warm Filipino hospitality to
its customer has always been coupled
travel agents from 1990.
The airlines played a leading
role in the development of tourism
not only in Thailand but also
helping worldwide for the promotion of Nepal as major tourist
destination through the various
media like in-flight magazine
"Sawasdee" and Royal Orchid
Holiday Packages tour to Nepal.
THAI has actively participated in
"Visit Nepal Year 1998" as THAI
also celebrated its 30`h years in
Nepal in the same year. THAI
has produced stickers and Nepal
posters to be distributed to its
worldwide sales offices.
Royal Orchid Lounge at the
Tribhuvan International Airport
is the only lounge operated since
1990 by airlines in Kathmandu. It
has the capacity to accommodate
60 passengers at a time and offers
this facility to other airlines also.
THAI as to facilitate passenger
has implemented E-Ticketing on
NOV 2005. THAI has already
adopted Altea Reservation system
from February 2014.
THAI service to this Himalayan
Kingdom is remarkable as it has
acted as a catalyst in promoting tourism to make it what it is
today, a thriving. Well established
and recognized industry and the
major foreign exchange earner for
the Kingdom.
THAI will continue to maintain
its leading role for the promotion
of tourism in Nepal in the years
to come.
