He produces and presents a bi-monthly inflight show for KLM called ‘The Edge’ and pops up in various freelancing roles such as Ford’s ‘Bands In Transit’ series. 6 Interview with the Tampere Music Award Winner Jan Sneum Interviewed by juhani kansi Jan Sneum DR p r o d u c e r / j o u r n a li s t d e n m a rk The Danish music journalist and long time producer of Danish Broadcasting Corporation DR, Jan Sneum has for decades steered the live production of Danish Radio at the home land as well as abroad. He has for example designed and directed the Nordic radio operations of the Roskilde festival. Jan has edited a 1655 page lexicon of the world’s most important rock, pop and electronica artists, titled Politikens Store Rock Leksikon, published in 2004. Among the Finnish acts accepted into the lexicon are Hurriganes, Hanoi Rocks, Sielun Veljet, Radiopuhelimet, 22-Pistepirkko, Honey B. & T-Bones, Leningrad Cowboys, Jimi Tenor, Jori Hulkkonen, Pekka Pohjola, Piirpauke and Wigwam. Jan Sneum is known in Europe for his active role in organizing the EBU Rock & Eurosonic festivals. He is the chairman of the EBU Eurosonic group, and an active member in the European Friday OCT 19 Broadcasting Union. In this role, he oversees the integration of music within MTV’s long form programming, working closely with both established and independent artists expanding the connections and opportunities between music and television. Andrea von Foerster f ir e s t a rt e r m u s i c music supervisor usa Andrea Von Foerster has done music supervision for film, television and online projects for over ten years. Credits include music documentaries such as Mayor Of The Sunset Strip, The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights and Butch Walker: Out Of Focus. Her work history within the field of film include independent films such as (500) Days Of Summer, It’s Kind of A Funny Story, From Prada To Nada, Bellflower and Excision, and studio films such as Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and Chronicle. Her television work includes The O.C., Grey’s Anatomy, Dollhouse and Stargate Universe and numerous MTV shows such as Run’s House and Life Of Ryan. She is currently working on the studio film Of Men And Mavericks, independent films The Secret Lives Of Dorks and I Am Ben in addition to the TV show Don’t Trust The B---- In Apt. 23 (ABC) and Wigs, an internet network with original programming. 8 Music & Media Sync Summit Kaylin Frank W a lt d i s n e y s t u d i o s St u d i o Fil m M u s i c E x e c u ti v e usa Kaylin Frank has been a Studio Film Music Executive for 15 years and has worked on over 125 films. She holds the position of VP, Creative Music and Soundtracks for Walt Disney Pictures where she is involved in all live action features and soundtracks. Prior to her tenure at Disney, Kaylin was the VP of Creative and Production for MGM and Music Supervisor for Danny DeVito’s Jersey Films. Kaylin’s broad knowledge of both the music business and film business play a harmonious role at Walt Disney Pictures where she works closely with songwriters and artists to help create great music for many of Disney’s Feature Films. Thomas Golubic supermusicvision music supervisor usa Thomas GolubiĆ is a Los Angeles-based music supervisor, DJ, and Grammy-nominated record producer. His music supervision credits include the AMC series “Breaking Bad”, “The Walking Dead”, and “The Killing”, the HBO series “Six Feet Under” and the New Line film “After The Sunset”, among a number of other film & television projects. Thomas was nominated for Grammy awards twice for producing volumes 1 and 2 of the ‘Six Feet Under’ soundtrack album, and with former partner Gary Calamar was responsible for the use of Sia’s “Breathe Me” in the final scene of the series. It is considered one of the most memorable uses of music in television, and launched Sia’s music career in America. 9 Music & Media Sync Summit Maxwell Gosling littl e e a r s founder usa Maxwell Gosling, founder of little ears, started his career in the music industry which translated fluidly into a position as a music supervisor for Chevrolet at the tender age of 23. Shortly after leaving Detroit, little ears was born in 2008 and has gone on to critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Fest while working with blue chip clients like NIKE, Coke, NBA, Oreo and Skype. Most recently, he completed work on a short film called “Mission Chinese” and has taken home two Emmys for his involvement in the viral hit of 2011 “Take This Lollipop” as well as working with sister company Future Perfect to score NHL’s “No Words”. JT Griffith n ik e Music supervisor usa JT Griffith works in Portland, OR as Nike’s internal music supervisor working in the company’s global advertising group with its affiliate companies (Converse, Hurley, Cole Haan, Umbro). Since 1993 he’s experienced a variety of aspects in the music business. As a music supervisor, JT has 10 years experience and played a creative or licensing role on 3 Grammynominated music projects. In radio, he has hosted a weekly show Oregon Public Broadcasting’s NPR affiliate (opbmusic. org) helping producing Gary Calamar’s show on KCRW which was nominated for the “Best Radio Show in LA.” In film and tv licensing he worked at Nettwerk representing Sarah McLachlan, Sum 41, Avril Lavigne, Dido, Jamiroquai and others. He also headed up Nettwerk’s US A&R effort signing and working with a wide range of bands (Submarines, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Of Montreal, Kinky, etc.) and started a joint venture publishing company with Nacional Records / Cookman (Nortec Collective, Pinker Tones, Aterciopelados). 10 Music & Media Sync Summit David Hayman s u p e r s o n i c c r e a ti v e + music supervisor c o n s u lti n g canada Since 2005 David led a strong team of music supers at Toronto’s Vapor Music but has now left to start up his own shop Supersonic Creative + Consulting, whose clients include CocaCola, McDonalds, Hershey’s, Buick and other top brands, and networks like ABC, NBC, CTV and Global television. David also divides his time working on feature films, new media ventures and supervising music for A-list televisions series like HBO’s Less Than Kind and CBC’s hit comedy series The Kids In The Hall Death Comes To Town. He also supervised Bang Bang Club, Don’t You forget About Me and The Whistleblower in 2011. David is currently working on the film Old Stock and recently completed his work on the film Love Me and Hiding. When he’s not busy with the management of Instore Music and Audio Marketing services, Robin is coming up with new ideas to keep the company on the cutting edge of Audio Branding. Furthermore he’s a lecturer for acoustic brand management at the Design Academy Berlin. From the time he began his Communication Design studies at Stuttgart’s Merz Akademie in 2004 until HearDis! was founded, Robin worked with various design studios and agencies in both the print and online formats. Robin also has a long history as music fanatic and DJ. Founding HearDis! In his duties at FUEL TV, John has handled the responsibility of supervising music for all FUEL TV productions since the inception of the network in 2003, including working on more than 1,000 programs and commercials. Those duties include music placement in programming, commissioning creation of music, booking artists for “The Daily Habit”, directing musicspecific content and overseeing the production of the music concert series “Check 1, 2.” David McGinnis Mute song s y n c h r o n i z a ti o n li c e n s i n g m a n a g e r uk David McGinnis joined Mute Song, Mute’s music publishing arm, in 1999 as the synchronization licensing manager. He also has extensive experience with television marketing for all of the major networks and numerous cable outlets, for shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Lost & Entourage.
