As an example: If a p patch were to shut down a server for 24 hours, the downstream impact might be quantifiable losses f , p g q f such as number of Widgets not manufactured, or average number of trades not realized, or legal and regulatory damages/fines. It can also be non‐quantifiable impacts such as loss of reputation, or loss of fixed wage employee productivity. To understand the full impact of such a failure, it is essential to have full visibility into a given system’s entire data flow. Severity/ Impact Probability/ Likelihood Inherent Risk The probability or Likelihood of a given event is slightly more difficult to determine.
