After receiving quite a few suggestions for an early monthly meeting, the GRC decided to put two breakfast sessions on the 2015 calendar. These morning sessions will accommodate those members who simply cannot leave their businesses or work environments to join us for lunch. Debra Mason, Education & Training Manager at Seton Hill University’s E-magnify energized the morning group with a lively presentation on improving customer service and setting the benchmark in your industry. Gina C. Lynn, GRC Executive Director, Debra Mason, Education & Training Manager, Seton Hill University E-magnify, Deborah Puglia, GRC President Whether you work with the public, have interactions with clients, or are a consumer of any business, you come in daily contact with customer service at some level. Good or bad, customer service is the lifeline of any business. It is vital to every business to have passion behind what they do, and to have a positive attitude towards every customer in order to improve and sustain a favorable rapport among clientele. We were fortunate to have Debra present to our group, and look forward to welcoming her back for a presentation on Management Skills at our next breakfast session on Tuesday, Oct. 27th. E-magnify Mission: To strengthen the economic impact of women business owners as a collective force and to advance their growth through innovative programming in entrepreneurship and new venture creation. E-magnify offers counseling, training and mentoring programs to fit changing business needs. Seton Hill E-magnify is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the US Small Business Administration. Summer Arrives What changes at your place of business during the summer? Do you have a more casual, relaxed work place? Does your volume of work increase or does it decrease? Do you offer customers summer specials or unique promotions? Do you plan for a summer vacation or do you forego vacation because you can’t be away from the daily operations? A true sign of summer in the Greater Rostraver area is the transformation of the Rt. 201 traffic island from weeds to beautiful flowers. The traffic island is maintained by generous donations from GRC members and our five island sign sponsors: Martins Flowers & Shrubs, McKnight Medical, Monongahela Valley Hospital, PNC Bank and Valley Veterinary Service. Special thanks to Martins Flowers & Shrubs for the weeding, maintenance and planting and to Jim Fowler, of McShane’s for the weekly mowing. The island beautification is certainly a welcoming sight for daily computers and visitors to our area and the GRC is proud to continue this annual project. The GRC will take a summer break from our monthly meeting schedule in July, and will resume in August with our lunch and mini golf tournament at Bill’s Golfland on Tuesday, August 25th. Planning for our Fall Classic and Ladies Night Out is in full force during these summer months and information about both events can be found on pages 10 and 11 in this newsletter. I will be away from the office during the first weeks of July and Board Member, Lynn Grimes will be keeping an eye on things for me. She will come in frequently to pick up the mail, check phone messages and keep things running smoothly in my absence. If you call the office, please be sure to leave a message so that she can return your call and assist you. I will see you upon my return, GRC! Enjoy these summer days! Sincerely, Gina C. Lynn Executive Director GRC Welcomes Summer Intern The GRC is happy to have Samantha Robbins, daughter of board member, Judi Robbins as our summer intern.
