TRY TIME PROGRAMME Perfect for those who are new to rugby league or for those who are not predisposed to the rigours of full contact - Try Time is a tag rugby programme designed to introduce core RL skills such as hand eye coordination, catching and passing etc. Targeting Years 5 and 6, this project is delivered over 4 consecutive weeks at all interested Primary Schools within the Tigers catchment area. VIP JUNGLE DAYS Following on from the Try Time Programme, VIP Jungle Days invites those schools previously visited to the stadium on a Castleford Tigers home match day. The schools receive a training session, tour of the stadium, lunch, and a chance to meet first team Tigers players before playing the curtain raiser, on the main pitch, in front of a crowd of thousands. TIGERS TACKLE HEALTH Wakefield District Tigers Tackle Health is a road show of activities for ALL pupils in both Primary and Secondary schools. Using high profile Castleford Tigers players as role models the programme promotes key health messages through engaging, interactive and visual assemblies. These assemblies are then followed up by 3 weeks of dance and multi sport sessions, once again for ALL pupils. PLAYING FOR SUCCESS Playing for Success at Castleford Tigers provides an educational environment using sport and the club as a medium to engage with young people. The centre is an exciting and vibrant place where pupils aged between 10 and 14 can develop their Literacy, Numeracy and ICT skills as well as grow in terms of their self esteem and self confidence. The skills which these young people develop can then aid them in their progression throughout their school lives and help them to achieve their potential. OUT OF HOURS SCHOOL ACTIVITY Rugby, dance and multi sport lunch time and after school clubs are held at various venues across the district providing positive use of extra curricular time for hundreds of pupils. HOLIDAY CAMPS Rugby, dance and multi sport camps are held every Easter and Summer school holidays. Teaching a variety of skills to cater for begineers through to advanced, the camps are designed to encourage both boys and girls to get involved and stay active. DANCE ACADEMY In association with the official Castleford Tigers cheerleaders, the Dance Academy trains every Wednesday evening. Open to girls and boys from 4 to 16 years all abilities are welcome. All youngsters participating are given the unique opportunity to perform on a Castleford Tigers match day, on the pitch, in front of a crowd of thousands. They will also dance at numerous community events throughout the district where they can showcase the talents they have learnt through the academy.
