We can do this by attending open meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous with the purpose to learn more about the disease of alcoholism. For more info on open AA meetings go to www.aamilwaukee.com Have an Event to Post? Any additions to this newsletter are welcome. Please e-mail the webmaster for the SE WI Al-Anon website at: webmaster@alanon-wi.org From the Al-Anon Service Board I Don’t Give a Buck….I give more! When I started attending Al-Anon meetings over 8 years ago I was instructed to bring a dollar for a donation. I was amazed that the membership fee was so reasonable. Shortly after that there was a “Break the Buck” campaign asking members to give more than $1.00. I took it to heart. Al-Anon has given me so much. A healthy and happy family, great working relationships, wonderful friends and buddies in the program, and a higher power of my understanding that supports me through every moment of my day. Without Al-Anon my life would be drastically different. I came in stressed and so busy worrying about everyone else’s issues that I had no time for myself. Had I decided to seek professional help rather than Al-Anon I’m quite certain the cost of treatment would be substantially over $1.00 per session and I don’t know that I would feel as happy and as content as I am today. I started adding an extra dollar in the basket every year of my recovery up until I reached $5.00. I have buddy who donates the equivalent of a gallon of gas. I feel financially able to give $5.00 per meeting and I still feel that is a bargain. I have had the opportunity to serve as the Treasurer for the Service Center to see how those $1.00, $2.00 and $5.00 donations add up to support the expenses that keep our Service Center open to support our newcomers and our literature distribution. We all need to do what is right for us but I encourage you to join me in saying “I don’t give a buck…I give more!” Judy T - Service Board Treasurer **Please consider volunteering – new Service Board Members are still needed!! 5|P a g e
