7:15 – 8:00 p.m.
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Services
Information (repeated in second session)
Learn about the instructional approaches used in elementary,
middle, and high schools for students receiving ESOL services,
including information on students’ progression from level to level in English proficiency.
Presenters: Instructional Services staff
How to Help Your Children with Their Education (repeated in second session)
Parents can make a great difference in the success of their children in school. This session describes
ways to help students of any age.
Presenters: Instructional Services staff
Preparing Your Child for College and/or Career (repeated in second session)
Learn how to support your child in preparing for life after high school. The current job market requires
students to take advantage of opportunities, including rigorous academic coursework and
extracurricular activities. This session will provide information about resources and supports available
to students and families in preparing for college and career.
Presenters: Counseling and College and Career Readiness staff
Advanced Academics in FCPS: (repeated in second session) Information will be provided on
Young Scholars and the K-12 continuum of Advanced Academic Services to include Levels I-IV,
Honors, Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
Presenters: PreK-12 Curriculum and Instruction, Advanced Academic Programs staff
