High Court today rejected her
bail plea in the disproportionate
assets case, saying there was no
ground to grant her the relief.

Bhavani Singh told the Court
he had no objection to granting conditional bail to
Jayalalithaa, who is in prison
here since her conviction by
the Special Court on September 27.
In his order pronounced in
a packed Court room, the
Judge said there "are no
grounds" to give bail to the
former Tamil Nadu Chief
Minister and observed that
corruption amounts to "violation of human rights" and
leads to economic imbalance.

Jayalalithaa,

been extended by another
year.
The letter also suggested
fixing a date for holding a
tripartite political dialogue,
sources informed.

was also received by the People’s Consultative Committee
for Peace.
Although both the Government of India and
Government of Manipur have
agreed to extend the SoO pact
by one year, UPF and KNO
are against holding the tripartite talk at Imphal. As such, it
is still unclear when the first
tripartite talk involving the
SoO signatories would take
place.
Both the UPF and KNO
have been insisting on holding the tripartite talk at Delhi
and they have also made it
clear that they would stay
away from the tripartite talk if
it is held at Imphal.
At the same, UPF and
KNO have serious grievances
against the Government’s
lack of initiative for holding
political dialogue even though
the SoO pact has been extended repeatedly over the
years.

UPF, KNO, Government of

India has been extended by
another one year, there is no
question of holding any
tripartite political dialogue as

IMPHAL, Oct 7: CAF&PD Minister M Okendro M Okendro
today called on the Union Minister of State, Consumer Affairs,
Food and Public Distribution (Independent charge) Ram Vilas
Paswan and urged him to provide necessary assistance for
effective implementation of the National Food Security Act
(NFSA) in Manipur.
The Union Minister of State reportedly responded by assuring all possible assistance.
Okendro apprised Ram Vilas Paswan that the State has
been acute shortage of godown for implementation of NFSA
in the State which is aimed at providing staple food to the
people at highly subsidized rates.
The CAF and PD Minister also sought three months time
before implementing the NFSA and give an opportunity to
complete the ongoing construction works of FCI godowns.
