Update on the St. Philomena School
2014 Annual Campaign
Thank you to all who have already pledged and
donated to this year’s Annual Campaign. On
Sunday, October 5, 2014, Father Woodland spoke
to everyone regarding our Campaign and in the
evening we had our 2nd Annual Phone-A-Thon.
Because of your generous support, we are fast
approaching $15,000. This would not be possible
without your commitment to make a difference in
the lives of many students here at St. Philomena
Catholic School. It is not over yet, there is plenty
of time to donate or pledge.
Every gift matters, your support of St. Philomena
School is greatly appreciated. Please visit our
website, www.stphilomenaschool.com to see what
we are doing with your investment. You can donate
on line or send a check in to the church or school.
Please indicate your donation is for the St.
Philomena School 2014 Annual Campaign.
Your support makes all the difference.
Thank you!

Religious Education/Faith Formation
THERE WILL BE CLASS ON MONDAY,
OCTOBER 13TH!
What wonderful children have we been blessed with!!
Our hearts want to welcome all children but owing to
space limitations and the fact we have been in session for
a month, we cannot take on any more children at this
time, and will have to close registration. Thank you for
your commitment to a religious education for your
children. Please know that there is MUCH MORE than
First Communion involved in Religious Education than
just that. We are teaching your children to develop a
relationship with Jesus, to learn about Him and the
wonderful things that He does in their life. Our program
does go up to Middle High and we encourage you to
include your children in the upper grades.
As a parent we are relying on you to help us develop
that relationship with Jesus. We are counting on you to
take time to look over their books and activities. If your
child is receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and
Eucharist, please make the time to help them learn the
Act of Contrition and the steps to theses sacraments.
We will be celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation
on Friday, November 21st in the church at 7:00 pm.
Our Third Annual Harvest Festival will be October 20th
in the parish hall at 6:30 pm. We will need lots of
parental help to make our birdfeeders, crafts and serve
cupcakes and juice. We are asking parents to donate

Begin the day with 9:00 am Mass. Learn skills,
techniques and resources adaptable for every age
student to enhance their experience of the Good News.
Four WA State Clock Hours and/or four hours toward
renewal of Catechist Certification.

cupcakes or juice.
The students will be celebrating All Saints Day on
November 3rd. We are asking the children to look up to
find a saint that interests them. We will be sending
home a list of saints and how to dress up as one. We are
not asking you to spend any money on the activity, but
rather, have the children look around the house to make
their own costumes.
RCIA:
Our group of inquirers is continuing to meet every
Tuesday at 7:00 -8:30 pm. We encourage all to join us.
We may be small this year but we continue to find joy
in learning about and from each other. Our upcoming
topics include the Meaning of the Mass and the Bible.
We will have a special guest next week, Deacon Jerry, to
answer general questions and maybe we can stump him.
Confirmation
Our next Confirmation class is October 19th at 2:30pm.
The Confirmation Welcoming Rite will be on October
19th at the 5:30pm Mass, right after class. Sponsors are
encouraged to attend; however, a parent may stand in
for the sponsor. If you have any questions please
contact me at 206.878.8709 or kara@stphil.com.
Upcoming classes: November 9 and November 23.
