For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18) I have written this week with the Lord’s help about the Future Glory of the Church (the Bride of Christ). The scripture text for this article is taken from the Book of Romans. This book was written by the Apostle Paul in the winter of AD 57-58 before he went to Rome. His purpose for writing it was to prepare them for his coming, and also to instruct the new converts. The Book of Romans is the most complete most logical, and clearest presentation of the Christian faith to be found anywhere in the New Testament scriptures. The theme of this book is the justification of sinful men; the sanctification of justified men; and the glorification of sanctified men through faith and by the power of God. (Romans 1:16, 17) says, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Our scriptural text for this article is (Romans 8:18, 19) which says, For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. First of all Paul begins to reflect upon the many sufferings that he has been through up to this point in time in his life (this present time), and he declares publickly that his sufferings are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. In (II Corinthians 4:17) he said, For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. He also declared that the future glory of the church (the bride of Christ) would be greater and more wonderful than all he is going through now. Paul was willing to endure his personal sufferings, so that the Apostolic Church could be saved and have eternal glory. (II Timothy 2:10) says, Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. The future glory of the church will be great, glorious, and unending or eternal. What will this future glory be like? We will not fully know until we see the reality of it with our own eyes. Read (I Corinthians 13:12). But we do have a scriptural picture of the church’s future glory to share with Zion Temple First Pentecostal Church, and everyone who reads this article. (Philippians 3:20, 21) says, For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. In the near future the sons of God will make their final change or transformation from vile, fleshly, carnal bodies into a glorious body, just like Jesus has; we shall be like him, and we shall see him as he is. Read (I John 3:2). In the near future we will be clothed with the righteousness of God. (Philippians 3:9) says, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. Also read (Romans 3:22). All creation is waiting too for this time to come so that they can be delivered from the curse of God placed upon the ground for man’s sake (Genesis 3:17-19). For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. Read (Romans 8:19-23). In the near future the church will be glorious, not having spot, wrinkle, or any such thing, it will be holy and without blemish. The word GLORIOUS means beautiful, splendid, gorgeous, magnificent. Read (Ephesians 5:27). In the near future the church will attend the marriage supper of the Lamb. She will be clothed in fine linen, the righteousness of saints. (Revelation 19:7-9) says, Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him:for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white (bright): for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. What a glorious future awaits the people of God; the church; the bride of Christ. We hope this article will give all of you hope for tomorrow, and courage for today. We hope the words which we have written will encourage everyone who reads this article to hold on in your time of testing to God’s unchanging hand. Always remember (I Peter 5:10) which says, But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. Also read (II Corinthians 4:18). The things we are going through at this present time are temporal, not eternal. Keep hope alive in your souls, don’t let it die! Wait for the future glory of the church (the bride of Christ) it will come in the near future. Read (I Corinthians 15:19) and (Romans 8:24, 25). Prepared by District Elder Charles L. Smith, D. D.
