BATHROOM FACILITIES FOR PARENTS
If parents need to use the bathroom, please use the staff
facilities in the administration building. It is not appropriate
for adults to use the student toilets for safety and security
reasons and we certainly do not want anyone’s actions to
be misinterpreted.

DIWALI
Happy New Year!
Diwali, the Hindu Festival of
Lights, brings in the New Year
across South Asia. The
festival of Diwali extends over
five days involving lights,
fireworks and food. Diwali
celebrates the victory of good
over evil, light over darkness,
and knowledge over ignorance. During Diwali, lights
illuminate every corner of India and the scent of incense
sticks hangs in the air, mingled with the sounds of firecrackers, joy, togetherness and hope.
Diwali 2014 falls on Thursday 23rd of October. Happy
Diwali!

FROM THE HEALTH CENTRE
CHICKEN POX
There have been more cases of Chicken Pox
reported in the school. An infected person is
contagious for 1-2 days (possibly 5 days)
before the onset of the rash and remains
infectious until the blisters form scabs (usually
around day five of the illness). If your child
develops a rash please see your GP. Children with
Chicken pox must be excluded from school until the sores
have completely crusted over.

saving for and how they plan to achieve it. The competition

Good Luck everyone!
OHSC
Welcome to Camp Australia Before and After School Care.
What a fun week we have had celebrating children's ideas
and activities. The children have really had fun creating
some knitting tools. The projects have been full of their
favourite colours and the children have been helping by
teaching and showing the other children how to create the
projects. What a great way to show leadership and
encouragement between the ages of the children.
This week we are celebrating the Festival of Lights. We
have an educator who will be talking and creating fun
projects with the children relating to the festival. We hope
the children can learn and take something from our
celebration.
Please remember it is term 4 and the children are required
to wear hats outside. Some of the children need to keep
their hats in the classrooms, so please place a spare sunsmart hat in their bags. Any questions please stop in and
see us.
November 3rd is a curriculum day. There is an expression
of interest form at our sign in table. We will need 20
children in order to run for the day. Please be aware that
when you sign up, it is a booking request. Any questions
please stop in and see us.
We hope everyone enjoys the sun and has a fun week.
Have a great week!

Tea Towel Fundraiser
At the end of term 3 all students were asked to draw a
picture of themselves. These images have been transferred
onto a tea towel designed for each year level. In the
coming weeks students will bring home an order form.
Please support our fundraising activity and place an order.
They will make great gifts for grandparents and will be a
wonderful keepsake for your child. It may even encourage
your child to dry the dishes!

SERPELL AEROBICS
What an AMAZING amount of effort, skill and determination
displayed by our two Serpell teams who competed in
Saturday’s Victorian Spring Challenge, in Geelong! Both
teams performed so well, displaying their commitment and
sense of sportsmanship. Both routines were sharp, precise
and thoroughly entertaining.
We are so proud of each student who worked extremely
hard, gave up so many lunchtimes to participate in
rehearsals and competently displayed team skills. An
enormous ‘thank you’ to all of those students who
participated and we are so proud of what you personally
achieved. Thank you to the families of these students who
encouraged and supported their child and the school.
We look forward to each teams’ performance at the Whole
th
School Assembly on the 27 of October at 2.30pm.
Mrs Singh and Miss Balassone (Year 3 coaches)
Miss Rankin and Miss Lee (Year 6 coaches)
