School Captains Handed the Message of the First People of Victoria. th On Wednesday the 25 of February, Elisha, James, Kristy and Sulaymaan were invited to Bunjalika Museum to meet Caroline Martin, the Manager and Indigenous Elder of the museum. Caroline spoke to the School Captains about the history of the First People in Victoria. They learnt about Bunjalika, the protector of the people in this country and the number of different aboriginal languages spoken in Victoria. Caroline passed on the message for our School Captains to share with the students at Serpell Primary School. The Acknowledgement of Country is read by the School Captains at the beginning of every school assembly. I still have some classes that need Class Reps. If you have ever considered taking up this role then please volunteer as it’s very easy and hardly takes up any time. All you need to do is create a Friendship List and organise a get together each term for your class. Ideally we need two Class Reps for each class so this is perfect to do with a friend. Class Reps are still needed for the following classes: 1 KH, SC 2 AM, KK, MR, RL 4 BR, JR 5 KB, KD If you have not already volunteered and would like to do so please e-mail Dora Demos at dora.demos@bigpond.com our Class Rep Coordinator with your name, your child’s name and class and your phone number. If you child no longer has the health condition or does not required the medications, please send me a note so I can update my records. A few reminders about medication (as set out by the Education Department): 1. If your child is on antibiotics 3 times a day, it can be given at home in the morning, after school and in the evening. If you child goes to OHSC, I will be able to administer the antibiotic. 2. If your child requires medication at school, please provide it in the original box with your child’s name on it. Also complete a ‘Medication Authority’ form which is available from the office and on the website. 3. The Ed Department ask that I do not administer medications, such as, panadol or nurofen. Instead you will be contacted to collect your child if they are unwell. 4. If you have left panadol or nurofen with me in the past, I will not request a replacement once it expires. 5. The exception to points 4 and 5 are if your child is on a pain relieving medication as part of a health plan , e.g., migraines. If this applies to your child, please contact me so we can develop a Health Plan.
