About Indonesia

Indonesia is SEA’s largest economy and world’s 4th most populous nation. It
has a population of 238 million and a rapidly growing middle class. In 2013,
its GDP growth and FDI was 5.8% and US$28.6 billion. Promising sectors
include consumer goods, water solutions, power generation, waste
management, ports and urban transport.

Jakarta is the capital and largest city of Indonesia. With a population of
more than 10 million (Greater Jakarta has a population of 28 million), Jakarta
has the best demographic and highest per capita GDP in Indonesia. There is
a cluster of well-established Indonesian conglomerates and corporations in
Jakarta who will make suitable business partners. Most of Indonesia’s major
established industrial estates are also located around West Java, supported
by Tanjung Priok, Indonesia’s largest seaport, and Cikarang Dry Port.

Semarang is the capital city of Central Java, Indonesia’s third most
populous province, after West Java and East Java. It has a population of
32.8 million and is known for its furniture, garment, F&B and other labourintensive manufacturing. Young and skilled labour is widely available due to
its local vocational schools. Recognising the potential, Sembcorp
Development Ltd and PT Jababeka Tbk – two leading industrial park
developers from Singapore and Indonesia – have jointly developed Kendal
Industrial Park (KIP), a mega 2,700 hectares sea-fronting integrated
industrial park in Central Java Province, Indonesia.
