Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training A CPR Training class will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 9:00 a.m. in the parish lyceum. Sign-up sheets are available at the church entrances. We need to know how many people will be certified so that we can have the proper amount of instructors. Contrary to past announcements, there will be no charge for this CPR training. We are, what we are, as a parish, because of the sharing of faith, prayer, hard work, sacrifices, vision, generosity and love of so many people over the past 162 years. We remembered many of them on All Souls Day. We remember many of them each time we take a tour of St. Joseph’s Cemetery. We joyfully speak of them at our family dinners on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. We are truly appreciate of so many blessings through them. We, today, are called to help the parish grow into the future--in grace, care and sharing with others--and building up our parish life, in numbers and in faith. The “Catholics Come Home” Program will help in this and we will be asking lots of care from you, much of which will just require some little things you can do to help our visitors move from rarely visiting us to desiring to share with us weekly. I have asked you to assist with some of the ministries, organizations, committees and projects through the Ministry Flyer included in the parish bulletin of October 25/26. There is a sign-up form in that flyer or they are also available on the Ministry Tree in the front of the church. May God greatly bless Holy Family Parish as we journey forth into the future. With Love & Prayers, Father Dick WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON HERE IN THE COMING WEEKS? Filling shoeboxes for children in foreign lands/ Lessons on Child Safety/ Collecting Food for Needy Folks/ Thanksgiving Day Mass/ Holiday Bazaar/ Advent Wreath Lighting/ Little Blue Books for Advent/ Manger on the Mantel books for young children/ Taking Poinsettias to the Homebound/ Sacrament of Reconciliation opportunities/ Ladies of Charity Holiday Gathering/ Catholic Daughters Holiday Banquet. Catholics Come Home has already helped nearly half a million people to return to Jesus and His Church, elsewhere in the United States. Many parishes have seen increases in Mass attendance of between 1020% as a result. And over 90% of those who return to the Church, explain their reason as simply, “Because someone invited me.” Starting this Christmas, we will send the message, loud and clear, that we want Catholics back home with us. +Bishop Richard J. Malone That mysterious pull inside you, driving you to look into your faith once more, comes directly from God. Your Heavenly Father is yearning for a relationship with you again, in the Church founded by Jesus 2000 years ago. He’s waiting for you with open arms. COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND My Dear Friends in Christ, I appeal to you today to give generously to the National Collection for The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. This university is educating an important generation of lay and ordained leaders within the U.S. Support America’s Catholic university and the countless number of students who will experience an education grounded in Catholic tradition. Yours sincerely in Christ, +Bishop Richard J. Malone (Note: Parishioner Jackie Madejski is currently a student at CUA and Father Dick did his graduate work there also.) The average fee in most dioceses ranges from $350 to $1,000, which covers about half of the actual costs of processing the annulment. The diocese subsidizes the rest. (The Cleveland, Detroit and Columbus Diocese have waived all fees.) No one is ever rejected because of financial difficulties or inability to pay the full amount. An annulment does NOT have to be processed in Rome and you don’t need connections in order to obtain one. You must go through a civil divorce before you can begin the annulment process. Most cases take about between 12 and 18 months to process. Some will take longer if there are complications with the paperwork or delays in obtaining the testimony of witnesses. Some will take less time. The length of the marriage and the number of children are NOT factors in the annulment process. There is no quota system. Each case is processed on an individual basis. An annulment does NOT mean that there was never a loving relationship or a civil marriage that was recognized by the state. An annulment does NOT make the children illegitimate. If you were denied an annulment, it is possible to reopen your case with new grounds or new witnesses. Anyone who was denied an annulment before the 1983 Code of Canon Law changes were implemented in the late 1980’, should look into the possibility of reopening his or her case. Remembering our Veterans: Please pray for all our living and deceased veterans who so generously have served our country.
