Premier salutes Bahrainis
BANGKOK: The Premier yesterday paid tribute to
Bahraini people for their loving nature which reflects their genuine and unwavering loyalty.
“These feelings are not alien to Bahraini people,
famed for their honourable stances throughout history,” he said.
This came as His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received at his residence in Thailand Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa
and Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al
Khalifa who congratulated him on his successful
medical check-ups.
The Premier thanked them for their good feelings.
The Deputy Premiers hailed the scenes of joy
which reigned across Bahrain at the good news,
hailing the Premier’s standing as of “high national
value” for all the people of Bahrain.
“The initiatives of Bahraini people reflect the
stature of the Premier in the heart of all Bahrainis.
“Each Bahraini will always be grateful to the
Premier for the strides achieved so far,” they said,
hailing his farsighted visions and enlightened
ideas which heralded Bahrain’s development and
progress.

MANAMA: Fishermen
MANAMA: Bahrain has strongly condemned
the two terrorist explosions that targeted the
UAE and Egyptian embassies in the Libyan
capital Tripoli.
In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Ministry
said the kingdom considers such acts as
“blatant encroachment on international law
and values”.
It is also reflective of terrorists’ intention
to ignite tensions and conflicts, as well as
prolong the state of instability in the region
and impair relations among countries, the
statement said.
Bahrain also stressed its support to the Libyan
authorities in reinforcing security and stability
across the country.
Bombs exploded near the two embassies
yesterday but there were no reports of
casualties or major damage.

are set to receive compensation from the

boats get damaged
while they are out
fishing.
MANAMA: A reward is being offered for the
return of a Bahraini mother’s seven-monthold daughter, who was kidnapped during
a wedding function in Pakistan. Naheed
Faiz, who is originally from Pakistan, was
attending a wedding at the Skyways Hall in
Kharian, a city in Punjab’s Gujrat District,
when her only child Shanzay Ali Hassan
was abducted. The incident happened on
October 23 and an online campaign to track
down the infant has been launched, while
the family is offering a reward of 200,000
Pakistani rupees (BD800) for information
that leads to Shanzay’s return.
The new scheme was unveiled by Municipalities
and Urban Planning Affairs
Minister Dr Juma Al Ka’abi
at the opening of Bahrain’s
first-ever fishing festival in
Hidd Port yesterday.
The three-day event was
opened by Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, son of the
Crown Prince and vice-chairman of the Rashid Equestrian
and Horseracing Club.

“Fishermen are important to us and
protecting their trade comes as a top
priority to the government,” Dr Al
Ka’abi said.
“There are several projects that we
have initiated like artificial breeding
and coral reefs and now we are going
to help licensed fishermen who see
their boats catch fire or get damaged
while they are practising their profession.”
The fishing festival, which features
exhibits, a fish market, competitions
and children’s games, is free to attend
and will be open to the public today
from 3pm to 9pm and tomorrow from
10am to 9pm.

MANAMA: The Tourism Directorate has
ordered the closure of discos and entertainment
venues in 28 four-star hotels, hotel sources
told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej last
night. The directorate has issued circulars to
the hotels cancelling licences to recruit music
bands, they said.
