MUFTI DAY
Thursday, 6 November
A reminder that tomorrow is an animal
themed mufti-day to help raise money for
the SPCA - so don't forget to bring your
$2. We will also be having a special WOW
walking day to celebrate being a travelwise
school. We are encouraging students to
walk at least 400 metres to and from
school EVERY day. Tomorrow we will have
some spot prizes to give out along with a
special visitor. This is to recognise those
students who will be making a commitment
to be more travelwise about their school
journey. This will go ahead rain or shine.
KIDS AUCKLAND MARATHON
On Sunday 2 November four students,
Cameron Madden, Shreeya Prasad, Holly
Spargo and Izaac Bensley, represented Halsey Drive School in the ASB Kids Auckland
Marathon. The students had to run 40kms
at school over twelve weeks and then run
the final 2.195kms on Sunday. This was an
amazing achievement showing a lot of
commitment and perseverance. We are
very proud of them!

ATHLETICS DAY
Friday, 7 November 2014
Could all parents please ensure pupils have sunscreen,
hats and water bottles for the
day. Students may wear their
house colours but clothing
must be suitable for athletics
day activities. They may run with or without shoes.
Parents are most welcome to attend to
support their children.
Hopefully the
weather will be just perfect!
Chocolate bars will be on sale for $2
(parents may buy chocolate at any time of
the day but students will only be able to
buy (and eat) them at break time and lunch.
There will also be a coffee van here where
coffee may be purchased.
The Moon (by Sara Liu—Room 6)
The moon shimmers in the sky like a
diamond.
The moon beams give off a silvery
light like twinkling pearls.
The craters and light look as if there
is a face that watches over us in
the dark, velvety endless sky,
It is like a mirror reflecting light.
It skims slowly around its orbit like a
slow slimy snail.
It shines upon on as we fall fast
asleep
Who knows, may be some day we
may find out about what’s on the
mysterious silvery moon!
