Evensong is sung according to the BCP Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 6pm in All Saints. There is Evening Prayer Monday to Thursday at 5pm at Christ Church. Prayers Mission and Community Concern: Prison Reform Trust working to ensure prisons are just, humane and effective. Parish/Church Concern: For the General Synod of the Church of England meeting this week in London. World/UK Concern: For all caught up in the conflict in Syria and for the work of the UN mediators there. Community: For all who manage and work on our local trains and buses and for those who commute in and out of the parish each day. A date for your diary: Advent Sunday Carol Service, one of the most beautiful services in our liturgical year with some of the lesser-known carols and choir anthems from the Anglican tradition. 30th November, 6.30pm, followed by refreshments. Mothers’ Union Christmas Market & Coffee Morning - next Saturday at St Mary’s - 10.30-12 noon. Home produce, gifts, cake stall, raffle. All welcome. The Nativity, Sunday 21st December, 10am Service: Rehearsals and casting for this year's Nativity will begin on Sunday 30th November during the Sunday school sessions. Further rehearsals take place on Sunday 7th, 14th and Saturday 20th (Dress rehearsal in church from 09:30 - 11:30am) with the final performance on Sunday 21st December. All children (and grown-ups) are welcome to participate and all children MUST be accompanied by an adult on Saturday 20th Help with Parish Link: Would you have approximately 2½ hours to spare between 9.30am and noon on the last Wednesday of each month to help with putting together Parish Link at St Mary’s? Christmas Angels: We are now collecting gifts of £10 and/or presents for our three charities: Refuge helps those suffering from domestic violence. All Saints Jazz Supper – Next Saturday 22nd November, at All Saints, at 7.30pm. Featuring the Blue Harlem band with hot supper, and dancing. An internationally renowned item, Julian Collings (organ), Rebecca Hepplewhite (cello), to include works by Bach, Bruch, Buxtehude and Rheinberger. £5 at the door to include a glass of wine. Lasting 45 minutes. For more information see also organrecitals.com Confirmation 2015: The next Confirmation Service in the Parish will be on 7th June 2015 at 4pm at All Saints. Classes for adults and for teenagers will be held next year but it isn’t too early to think whether you might be ready to be confirmed or to talk to one of the clergy. As usual, this will be a Parish event, so choir members and others may like to put the date in their diaries. Parish Christmas Lunch & Tea: Help needed before and on the day with cooking, serving, raffle gifts, driving, organising, entertaining, socialising, lending equipment.
