Bulletin Deadline - Wednesday 12:00 p.m. “Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.” My dear friends in Christ, 22 days! God has given us to prepare his coming! I hope you took advantage and came to the reconciliation service! If not you have another chance to do it! Only come early and I will be in the confessionary waiting for you. Remember you have three more days to prepare the way of the Lord. In this Gospel, Mary showed us the response of faith. Mary gives us a picture of faith that is a response to God’s grace. I read a phrase from P.T. Forsyth, “Faith is not something we possess, but something that possesses us.” Faith comes only as we discover for ourselves that we have been favored, chosen, and blessed. When we think about this the only thing that we can experience is gratefulness that we have a wonderful God that gives us all that we need in order to be with him for eternity. This is the last Sunday of Advent and in three days we are going to celebrate Christmas. Every single year we have this celebration and every single year God is telling us that we are chosen, favored, and blessed. This year is not the exception God is telling us how much he loves us! The Emmanuel is among us! He came to help us to love and to be loved, He came to teach us how to be like him, and He came to show us how to do little things with great love. In this Christmas season my invitation is to remember all this advent time of 2014 when God told us that we need to be always watchful and alert, to be prepare to his second coming, to be aware of that we have been chosen, favored, and bless. Christmas time is the great day when we can see in a little boy how much God loves us and wants the best for us. As your Pastor I should like to express my wish to all of you, my beloved friends in Saint Joseph and Saint Raphael, who have gather here to remember that you are chosen, favored, and bless during this time of preparation. We gather today to see the mystery of the incarnation and to live this true in our lives. I wish that you may live in Christ, in the Truth and in the love which come from God. Fr. JOSEPH'S COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY: The next month's Food Pantry will January 23, 2015 beginning at 10 a.m. Your financial support is appreciated and encouraged. Every dollar you contribute goes toward purchase of food and household items. ❋❋❋ FAMILY PERSPECTIVE - Question: What do you call a family that began with a couple who married after a pregnancy was discovered; who had a twelve year old who ran away from home and was eventually executed as a criminal by the state? Answer: Holy. The lesson of today’s gospel is: no matter what is happening in your family, “The Lord is with you”. Let go and let God direct your family. Imitate Mary and “do not be afraid” for “nothing is impossible with God”. Stewardship by the Book - In the first reading God promises King David that his house and his kingdom will endure forever. It is through Mary's "Yes" - "I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you say." that the promise finds fulfillment. Reflecting on Stewardship - ““Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!” – Luke 1:28Faith is a gift from God. During this Christmas season take time in silence and pray to God. Thank Him for all the gifts He has given you. Try to set aside any anger or resentment you have and really open your heart to receive the gift of God’s grace. Televised Sunday Mass - The weekly Eucharistic Liturgy at St. Mary Cathedral is broadcast on Fox TV 32/45 at 8 AM Sunday mornings. The broadcast is funded through gifts to the annual Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) as well as private donations.
