Mass Intentions This Week
WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY
I believe that one of the most important things we can say about our
ecumenical journey in the past 40-50 years is how it has changed our views of
our Christian sisters and brothers from other Christian churches and traditions, and also how it has transformed and deepened our own faith. As the
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity comes round again, beginning today, we
are being challenged to go deeper in our understanding of one another as we
pray for the unity of all Christians as Christ himself prayed.

Today, there will be a service at Christ church Methodist, Lower Addiscombe Road at 6.30pm to mark the opening of this week for Christian Unity.
Please make an effort to attend. Next Sunday there will be a service at West
Wickham and Shirley Baptist Church, on the corner of Wickham Road and
Monks Orchard Road at 6.30pm to mark the end of this octave of prayer for
unity. Again, I encourage those who live in the Shirley area to attend. I know
that many of you assist other local churches in their outreach to the homeless
and the needy. This is excellent, but it is also important that we meet to pray
together.

THE “DROP I” AT ST.
MILDRED’S
Would be grateful if anyone visiting
Primark could include on their shopping
list, pants and socks for our guests. In
addition, although this winter has been
relatively mild up to this week, there is
now a renewed need for good condition
warm clothing, such as coats and
sweaters. All items can be delivered to St.
Mildred’s office during the week between
9.30 and 12 o’clock, or to the “Drop In”
itself on Sundays between 12.30 and
2.30. May I thank everyone in advance
for their support and also those of you
who in one way or another already assist.
David Warner.
