Bulletin - St. Christopher Parish
JANUARY 31 & FEBRUARY 1, 2015 FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME MASS INTENTIONS A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Friends in Christ, This past week our school celebrated Catholic Schools Week. The week was abbreviated because of the weather scare. However, it was still a good week to celebrate our school. The week began with the 12 noon Mass last Sunday followed by an open house at the school. A special feature of the Mass was that two of our eighth graders gave talks about what being a student in St. Christopher School has meant to them. No matter what Mass you attended last weekend, you heard one of the two giving the talk. It was inspiring to hear Mikala Frankunas and Dillon Boyle speak, and it was very gratifying to hear the specific ways our school has helped them be grounded in faith and in the academic subjects. I tell our kids that they must be “Champions for Christ.” That is the purpose of our school, and, in fact, the purpose of a Catholic parish. We are justly proud of our young people. It is my hope that those of you whose children are nearing school age will be determined to make the sacrifice involved to educate your children at St. Christopher School. It is an investment that will help them for the rest of their lives. The reason there was no letter from me in the bulletin was that I spent a week in Rome. During that time I attended a papal audience with Pope Francis. In the winter the weekly audience is held inside rather than in St. Peter’s Square. The huge auditorium was packed with people from all over the world. I was fortunate to get a seat – even though it was in the very last row. Hearing the Holy Father speak reminded me of the great pleasure it will be for all of us when he comes to Philadelphia in September. If you haven’t done so already, please take one of the leaflets for the World Meeting of Families. It promises to be a very special time. Before closing, I want to thank you again for all of your kindnesses to me and the priests during the Christmas season. I also want to thank you for the gifts for the retired and infirmed Sisters at St. Joseph Villa in Flourtown. They truly appreciated your thoughtfulness. Asking God’s blessings on you and hoping for an early Spring, I leave you In the peace of Christ, SATURDAY, JANUARY 31, 2015 5:00 pm Vigil — Harry, Mary & Kathleen Flounders SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2015 7:30 am — 9:00 am — 10:30 am — 12:00 pm — Robert Cowden Allen H.
