Before daily Mass and at 4:30 p.m. before 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday
Welcome!! We are glad you came to join with us in our worship today. We hope that you have
felt God’s love in a new, refreshing way…
From Fr. Tony
“A prophet like me will the LORD, your God, raise up
for you from among your own kindred; that is the one to
whom you shall listen…I will raise up for them a prophet
like you from among their kindred, and will put my words
into the mouth of the prophet; the prophet shall tell them
all that I command” (Deuteronomy 18:15, 18). As I read
this passage from our first reading this weekend of God’s
call for Moses to be His prophet, I am reminded about the
office we share with Christ by our Baptism. When we are
baptized, we are baptized as Priest, Prophet, and King. All
of us, by virtue of our Baptism, share in the prophetic role
of Christ. All of us are called to proclaim God’s word and
teach people of God’s love and what it means to be
members of His Body, the Church.
As we finish another week of Catholic Schools, our
Area Faith Community is blessed to have a Catholic
school community to share with our young people the
faith, to enhance their knowledge, and to offer
opportunities to grow in loving service. We are truly
blessed to have great listeners in our children, as
Deuteronomy writes. However, we are also truly blessed
to have wonderful prophets, like Moses, in our school.
When I came here 7 months ago, I was impressed to see
how our prophets (the faculty, staff, and administration)
share a common goal. As prophets, they tell what God has
commanded them by their words and actions. They all
have the desire to put their kids and the mission of the
school before themselves. They are not only great
examples of modern day prophets; they all share in the
Priestly office of Christ – by sacrificing their own needs
and wants for the benefit of the school.
For this and for all that they do for our school.
Therefore, when you see a teacher, staff member, or
principal, please thank them for sharing the faith,
developing the knowledge, and encouraging opportunities
for service to our children. Speaking of teachers and
prophets, enjoy…
The teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah
the Prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained
how Elijah built the altar, put wood upon it, cut the steer
in pieces and laid it upon the altar. And then Elijah
commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water
and pour it over the altar. He had them do this four
times. "Now, said the teacher, "can anyone in the class
tell me why the Lord would have Elijah pour water over
the steer on the altar?" A little girl in the back of the room
raised her hand with great enthusiasm. "To make the
gravy."
We truly have great prophets among us, please join
me, as we thank them!
SPECIAL THANKS TO…
 All who made Catholic Schools Week a great success.
Our Catholic education is a wonderful gift, and we are
so grateful to all who volunteered and attended the
different events.
 Those who helped with last year’s Catholic Heart
Work Camp And for helping with the slide show last
weekend. Again, if any of our 9-12 graders are
interested in going this year (June 20-27), please let
Sherry Plaetz know at the office.
In Christ through His Mother, Fr. Tony

“How much anxiety do we bring upon ourselves by
constantly worrying about not having enough or attaining
more things? God won’t necessarily give you everything
you want, but He will provide everything you need. Try
this – use the word “pray” instead of the word “worry” in
the future.”
FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

tomorrow.”

February 7th from 9-11a.m. in the St. Anne’s Church
Basement. The couple is registered at Target and Bed,
Bath & Beyond.
Recently, a commercial refrigerator used in St.
Anne’s church kitchen broke down. Because this was
unexpected, repair or replacement cost was not in our
budget. The refrigerator is used for the Hot Lunch
Program, Fall Festival, School Carnival, funerals and other
church events so we had to replace it. If you could help
out with this expense, it would be much appreciated.

St. Anne's School kicks off sales for Catholic
Schools Raffle
You can't fit a brand-new SUV into the backpack of a
student from St. Anne's School in Wabasso, but you can fit
the chance to win one! Starting Feb. 1, students will be
carrying and selling raffle tickets as part of the Catholic
Schools Raffle. Tickets are also available for sale in the
school and parish offices. Ticket buyers have the
opportunity to win $45,000 in prizes, including a 2015
Ford Escape or $25,000 cash, vacation packages and more.
See that attached flyer for more details regarding raffle
prizes.
St. Anne's will keep 100 percent of every $5 ticket sold
thanks to raffle sponsor Catholic United Financial. The St.
Paul-based company covers the entire cost of the prizes
and promotional materials.
In the Raffle’s five-year existence, it has helped
Catholic schools in the Upper Midwest raise more than $3
million. The money raised has allowed participating
schools to provide tuition assistance, improve technology
and pay for special learning opportunities, such as field
trips and special guest speakers. Along with the $8,000 in
ticket sale revenue it hopes to receive from the Raffle, St.
Anne's has a shot at winning a $3,000 grant from Catholic
United if it is one of the top-three performing schools
(based on the number of tickets sold per student). The
company also awards the top-selling student at each
school a $100 Visa gift card and a pizza party to each top
classroom.

The Vatican has announced that plenary
indulgences will be available to the faithful who
participate in celebrations for the Year of Consecrated
Life. On a local level, this would include honoring any of
the celebrations hosted by the diocese or the U.S. Bishops,
at the Cathedral or other locations. Opportunities of this
kind already planned are as follows: The World Day for
Consecrated Life celebration in Marshall this Saturday,
Jan. 17, at 5 p.m.; a discernment retreat being sponsored
by the Sisters’ Council; and a pilgrimage honoring the
“Days for Consecrated Life” being celebrated nationally
and advertized on the USCCB Web site. The conditions
for obtaining a plenary indulgence are sacramental
confession, reception of the Eucharist, prayer for the
intentions of the pope, and removal of all attachment to
sin.

Distinguished Service Award Ceremony will take place
Monday, March 9, 2015, 7 p.m. at the Church of St.
Catherine in Redwood Falls. Our featured speaker will be

Religious Liberty in America.” Fr. de Souza was ordained
a Catholic priest on July 20, 2002, for the Archdiocese of
Kingston, Ontario. He currently serves as chaplain at
Newman House, the Roman Catholic chaplaincy at
Queen’s University. He is the pastor of Sacred Heart of
Mary Parish on Wolfe Island where he currently lives. Fr.
de Souza teaches at Queen’s in the Faculty of Education
and the Economics Department. He is a longstanding
