G AME DAYS
VIKINGS LOUNGE — CHILDC ARE & POSTG AME ROOM
Vikings Lounge Entrance
Enter through the Vikings Lounge entrance (located below Gate C). Please make sure you present your Child Care pass to security
personnel as you enter. This entrance should be used anytime someone is entering with children who do not have tickets/seats for
the game. After entering, please proceed with the children to the Child Care room listed below.
Vikings Post-Game Lounge
Your Pass must be presented as you enter the Vikings Lounge after the game. The post-game lounge is intended for immediate
family members waiting for players and any full-time staff members with responsibilities after the game. This pass is good for postgame use only. This pass does not allow access into the Lounge before the game or at halftime. Coaches, trainers and their wives are
provided a separate lounge.
IMPORTANT: All guests must enter the lounge together.
Child Care Room (**Service available during the Regular Season only**)
The New Horizon Academy Child Care room is located in the lower concourse under Section 131 (below the Vikings Ticket Office). It can
be accessed from the main concourse behind Section 131. Do not access this area by going to the lower level and crossing the Vikings
locker room, field tunnel and visiting locker room area. If the main concourse is busy, the best route to take is on the Loading Dock
level (L1). You can get to this level by using the elevators behind the main press box or behind section 114.
The child care room will open one hour prior to the start of a regular season home game and will close shortly after the completion of
the game (approximately one half hour). Recommended ages of the children are one year and older. Please be prepared to present
your pass to the security personnel at several locations including at the child care room.
There is no charge for the child care services.Parents will be required to complete a ‘New Horizon Academy Enrollment Information’
form and a ‘Release Form’ prior to utilizing the child care services for each football season. This form provides information on your
child(ren), identifies allergies or special needs, provides your emergency contact information and your seat location, and your child’s
medical insurance information and emergency procedure information. For your convenience you may obtain these forms from Chad
Lundeen in advance so that you don’t have to complete them when you are dropping off your child. There will be extra blank forms at
the child care room.
To ensure that the New Horizon Academy Child Care is adequately staffed we ask that you please email childcare@vikings.nfl.net
with the number of children and ages who will be attending at least two days prior to the home game. If you have any questions that
require an immediate response please call Lisa Larson during office hours at 952-828-6538 or on her cell at 612-718-3317.
IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY: the Minneapolis Police Officer designated to the child care will decide the safest location for
the child(ren). If they must be evacuated from the Metrodome, the safety zone will be located at 511 - 11th Avenue South, the BTC
Building. This office building would be established as a Command Center if there was an emergency at the Metrodome. Parents/
guardians would be able to reunite with their child(ren) at this location. This building will not be accessible to the public.
If there is an emergency, updated information will be available on the Vikings Emergency Line voicemail box: 952-918-8380. This
number is listed on the back of your Child Care Pass. Parents should ensure their own safety first and should not attempt to get to
the child care center if there is any potential hazard.
Baby/Infant Ticket Policy
Every person, regardless of age, needs a ticket for admittance to the stadium (with the exception of children going to the Child Care
center). Please come to the old Vikings Ticket Office entrance on game day for a free Baby/Infant pass. The baby must be present
and not taller than 32” to acquire the pass from one of the security guards at this entrance. Distribution of these passes is up to the
discretion of the security staff. If you have any questions, please contact Chad Lundeen (952-918-8351) lundeenc@vikings.nfl.net.
Away Games

VIKINGS IN THE COMMUNITY
VIKINGS CHILDREN’S FUND
Pat Leopold
VCF Coordinator
leopoldp@vikings.nfl.net
(952) 828-6578
There have been many changes on and off the field for the Minnesota Vikings since the team’s inception, but the organization’s
steadfast commitment to children has always remained the same.
In light of the organization’s commitment to community, the Vikings Children’s Fund (VCF) was established in 1978 and has since
raised over $9 million to give back to those in need. The VCF is a means for Vikings players, coaches, cheerleaders, staff and their
families to focus their community support to help children. The VCF distributes grants to health, education and family services
organizations benefiting children.
Last year the VCF provided more than 80 grants to nonprofit organizations, including over $230,000 to the University Of Minnesota
Department Of Pediatrics. In total, the VCF has donated nearly $5 million to support the University Of Minnesota Department Of
Pediatrics, which boasts highly-skilled pediatricians and excels in break-through research.
To learn more about the VCF- or to make a donation- please call Patrick Leopold at (952) 828-6500. If you’re charitable organization
is interested in applying for a VCF grant, log on to vikings.com to download a grant application form. Grant applications need to be
mailed by November for fall award.

HISTORY OF THE VIKINGS
CLUB HISTORY
The Vikings have a rich football history that spans 50 years
and in that time the team has captivated Minnesotans and
cultivated an international fan base. From demanding head
coaches to Hall of Fame players to deep playoff runs, Vikings
history is lined with intrigue and success.
Bud Grant led the team to 4 Super Bowls, Scott Studwell
became the all-time leader in tackles, Cris Carter dazzled fans
with sensational receptions and Adrian Peterson took the
league by storm. But before all of those accomplishments, there
was a beginning. There were events that came together and
constituted the founding of a franchise.
It was on January 28, 1960 that Minnesota was granted an
expansion NFL franchise at the league owners’ meetings
in Miami, Florida. Leading the charge to bring the NFL
to Minnesota was the franchise’s founding group – Max
Winter, E. William Boyer, H.P. Skoglund, Ole Haugsrud and
Bernard H. Ridder, Jr.
Later in the summer of 1960, the franchise hired its first general
manager – former Los Angeles Rams Public Relations Director
Bert Rose – and soon after the team selected its nickname. The
nickname “Vikings” was chosen by Rose and the franchise’s
founders because it represented both an aggressive person with
the will to win and the Nordic tradition in the Upper Midwest.
The franchise then selected its first head coach – Norm Van
Brocklin – and prepared for its inaugural season by conducting
its first college draft in December of 1960 and participating in
the expansion draft following the 1960 season. The club was
then assigned to the NFL’s Western Conference in April of 1961
and finally played its first game against the Dallas Cowboys
in Sioux Falls, SD, on August 5, 1961, a preseason contest the
Cowboys won 38-13.
Over the past half-century, the Vikings have generated and
fostered a deep tradition of football that has entertained and
endeared a passionate fan base. The Vikings, with legendary
head coach Bud Grant patrolling the sidelines, won an NFL title
in 1969 and then dominated the 1970s by winning 8 division
titles and appearing in 4 Super Bowls.
In 2011 a new era of Vikings football will begin, as Leslie Frazier
takes over as head coach. Frazier, who’s won a Super Bowl
as both a player and a coach, joined the Vikings in 2007 as
defensive coordinator. He took over as Interim Head Coach on
November 22, 2010 and then on January 3, 2011 the Vikings
removed the interim tag and named him the 8th head coach in
franchise history. Frazier has pledged to work with the Vikings
scouting department and front office to return the franchise
to its roots – a tough-minded team with a stout defense and
dominating rushing attack.
Under Frazier’s guidance, the Vikings will also maintain the
philosophy of collecting good football players who are also good
people away from the field of play.
In total over the past 50 years, the Vikings have made 26 playoff
appearances, won 18 division titles and have played in just 2
stadiums – Met Stadium and the HHH Metrodome, which is now
named Mall of America Field at the HHH Metrodome.
