On Thursday, February 5,
2015, at about 7:00 p.m.,

Street to investigate a report
of gunshots being fired.
Officers were further
advised of a male subject,
later identified as Santos
Cabrera, age 31, from
Avenal. Officers arrived and
saw that Cabrera was suffering
from at least one gunshot
wound. Ambulance personnel
pronounced
Cabrera
deceased at the scene.
During the preliminary
investigation,
officers
learned Cabrera had been
shot as he was walking
towards his vehicle by a
lone male subject. The subject fled on foot south on
Fifth Avenue.
Avenal PD detectives,
