INTENTIONS OF POPE FRANCIS FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY
• •
Universal: That prisoners, especially the young, may be able to rebuild lives of dignity
Evangelization: That married people who are separated may find welcome and support in the Christian community.
PLENARY INDULGENCE DURING THE YEAR
OF CONSECRATED LIFE!
On the occasion of this special Year, Pope Francis has conceded plenary
indulgences, under the customary conditions:

The person must also sacramentally confess their sins and receive
Communion, up to about twenty days before or after the indulgenced
act.
The period for gaining this indulgence began on the First Sunday of
Advent 2014 and wil conclude on February 2, 2016, the day of the
closure of the Year of Consecrated Life. In the Diocese of Lafayette
a plenary indulgence may be obtained during those days devoted
to consecreated life and during diocesan celebrations organized for
the Year of Consecrated Life (by participating in any Votive Mass for
Consecrated or Religious Life, Vocations Awareness, Jubilarian Mass,
etc) or by visiting any of the following designated places:

In order to obtain the plenary indulgence, one must publicly recite the
Litugy of the Hours (please note places that are marked with an asterisk
all have public recitation of the Divine Office; please contact them
for times) or devote a suitable period of time for devout reflection,
concluding with the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and pious invocation of
the Virgin Mary.
PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFE
O God, throughout the ages you have called women and men to pursue lives
of perfect charity through the evangelical counsels of poverty, chasitiy, and
obedience. During this Year of Consecrated Life, we give you thanks for these
courageous witnesses of Faith and models of inspiration. Their pursuit of
holy lives teaches us to make a more perfect offering of ourselves to you.
Continue to enrich your Church by calling forth sons and daughters who,
having found the pearl of great price, treasure the Kingdom of Heaven above
all things. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with
you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

that they may be saved.” Romans 10:1
Mes chers amis,
The Holy Season of Lent will soon begin as ashes
are placed on our foreheads, reminding us again of
our weakness and mortality. It is time to do battle
against satan and sin, clinging to the Lord’s mercy and
grace in preparation to celebrate His great victory
at Easter. You’re invited to participate in the events
and activities of our Parish during the holy season of
conversion.

CHRIST: PRIEST, PROPHET, KING - video series by Fr.
Barron
The better we understand Jesus, the better we
understand ourselves. But who was Jesus, this
itinerant preacher whom many called the Messiah?
In Priest, Prophet, King, you’ll discover Jesus as the
Anointed One - the ultimate priest, prophet, and
king foreshadowed in the Hebrew Scriptures. Using
Biblical insights and engaging stories, Fr. Barron
affirms that we see Jesus most clearly through the
lens of the Old Testament. Through this presentation
of Priest, Prophet, King, you will better understand
Jesus, become more familiar with Sacred Scripture,
and realize your own priestly, prophetic, and kingly
mission. Join us in the Commons of Sacred Heart
School on three Wednesdays of Lent:
Feb 25 6:30pm Adoratio: Adam as Priest/The High
Priest
March 11 6:30pm Challenging False Worship: Elijah
the Prophet/The Word Made Flesh
March 18 6:30pm Ordering the Kingdom: King David/
The King of Kings
OPERATION RICE BOWL:

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:
We are blessed, here in Ville Platte, to have Perpetual
(twenty-four hour) Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
available to us at the Mercy Regional Hospital Chapel.
Parishioners are invited to stop by the chapel and spend
some time, as often as they wish, in prayer before Our
Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. If you are interested in
becoming a regularly scheduled adorer or a substitute
adorer, please phone 337-363-4533 for more information.
There are currently openings for adorers on Fridays at 9
p.m., Sundays at 1 a.m., and Mondays at midnight, please
phone the number above, if you are interested in taking
one of these vacancies.
All of us, gazing with unveiled face on the glory of the Lord are
being transformed into the same image from glory to glory,
as from the Lord who is the Spirit. – 2 CORINTHIANS 3:18
Ministry for the Dying
As sons and daugthers of Our Lady of
Mt. Carmel, it is the duty of all Secular
Carmelites to pray for the salvation of souls.
Because “the most important hour of life is
the hour of death”, the Secular Carmelites of
Ville Platte have chosen as their apostolate
to pray for the souls of the dying. After
calling a priest, if you would like prayers for
someone who is near death, please call Karen at 336-1775.
ALL CALLS ARE CONFIDENTIAL
PRAYERS FOR OUR DIOCESAN PRIESTS:
Each day, please remember the following Priests in prayer:

world. Sanctify them. Heal and guide them. Mold them into
the likeness of Your Son, Jesus, the Eternal High Priest. May
their lives be pleasing to You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
