MCI NEWS & CONCERNS
1.
2.
a) Hi, Welcome to MCI
We belong to the family of Jesus Christ and seek to honor
and glorify God through Worship, Word, Welcome,
Witness and Wonder. We pray that you will be inspired by
the worship of the Almighty God and will experience a
deeper touch of His love!
b) We are in the season of Lent. Let’s prepare our hearts as we encounter our Lord
Jesus in His earthly ministry leading to His crucifixion on Good Friday. We have
sent Easter 2015 Letters to members and friends. If you are not in our mailing
list, please collect a copy from our ushers today.
c) Rev Derrick Lau is the preacher for our 10.30 am Contemporary Service today.
Pray for the Lord’s anointing.
Sermon: The Wrath of the Word | John 2:12-16
Prayer Concerns.
a) The first of the Ten Commandments states: “You shall have no other gods before
me.” (Exodus 20:3). Therefore, let’s devote ourselves to the worship of our
Almighty God and let there be no other gods besides Him. May His Spirit help us
put away modern idols that distract us from the worship of the Almighty God.
b) The Lord directed Joshua: “8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;
meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in
it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be
strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your
God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:8,9. Let’s keep the Word of God in
our hearts and let it guide our steps.
c) “Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray
toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear,
forgive.” (2 Chronicles 6:21). This was the prayer of King Solomon after he has
built the Temple in Jerusalem. May this be our prayer today!
d) He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be
condemned” Mark 16:15,16. Let’s pray that the Good News will be shared amongst
all people. Pray in particular for the Alpha Course that is conducted on Wednesday
evenings in church. Pray for receptive hearts to the messages.
e) The Psalmist declares, “Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes, he
comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in
his faithfulness.” (Psalm 96:13). Let’s rejoice in Him and always be ready to
welcome His return.
f) Continue to pray for Christ’s healing grace on those who are ill.
Let’s continue to pray unceasingly. If you have a prayer concern, you may like to share it
with our pastors or email it to prayer@mci.org.sg.

Scripture Memory for March & April 2015:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us…”
John 1:1,14
4. MCI Project Gideon 300 is about raising 300 members to meet the challenges
associated with the re-payment of interest-free loans that churches and individuals have
committed to our MEP. Presentations were made at all our Services over the past 2 weeks
based on the ministry of Gideon in Judges 6 & 7. The details of the project were shared via
Easter 2015 Letter as well as in our worship bulletin.
It is a call to give sacrificially, beyond that which you have already committed in terms of
Pledges, Building Fund etc… On an average, we needed to raise approximately $300,000
annually to meet our MEP Fund obligations over the next several years. We challenge
you to be one of the 300 men/women of God who would set aside an average of $70 per
month for the next 12 months. Please give as the Lord directs. Project Gideon 300
Envelopes are available @ infoHub. You may place the envelopes in our Offering Bags,
return @ infoHub or mail to MCI Office.

The church today faces its greatest challenge in history, an entire generation hangs in the
balance. Will the church win them or lose them?
Barna Group survey shows Christian children are rapidly moving away from a biblical
worldview. Our children are being discipled by the world, Will the church lose this
generation? The 4-14 Window … the age when people are most likely to meet Christ.
The church has … influence … opportunity … mandate … responsibility
to raise a generation of world changers
It’s time for children and youth to become the focused priority of the global church.
What difference could you make in … our church … our community … our nation?
Join the movement … to win … to disciple … to TRANSFORM … a generation
The hour has arrived ….. bring a child to the Children’s Ministry Open House
on Sunday, 29 March 2015.

10. In our world today, everything comes with a price. Fame, acceptance, security and even
love. We say we love one another, yet we do not know how. In kind, everyone goes
through heartaches and pain just to love and be loved. Is love nothing more than a
fanciful lie? None of us is perfect, and little can change that.
To love one another past their flaws, that makes love true.
To be loved unconditionally by someone, that makes love powerful.
As we struggle to love in a world that has lost its will to love, MCI Creative Arts Ministry
brings “All for Love’’ – a musical inspired by the greatest love story ever in history. For
the first time ever, there will be Chinese subtitles and original songs!
Invitation cards and complimentary tickets will be distributed today.

The water turned into wine – John 2:1-11
Jesus had chosen a few disciples now, and was at a wedding in Cana with his
mother. A problem arises and expectations were imposed upon him. But Jesus’
reply was quite shocking, even by first-century standards! Why did he respond the
way he did? And what can we learn from Mary and the servants in their own
responses to Jesus?

Discussion Questions
1. Was there a time when something God wanted you to do required you to give
difficult answers to your family members, friends, or colleagues? If yes, share
your experience and how you felt.
2. If God responds to your prayer in way contrary to your preference, would you
be willing to accept it by faith? Why or why not?
3. Share a time when you chose to obey God’s instructions even though you
would have preferred not to, and how you received His blessings as a result of
