Good Food Box Volunteer – Deer Park requires a volunteer to help with the monthly Good Food
Box program. There are 2 opportunities and you may volunteer for one or both.
 Order day - Tuesday (11:00 – noon) – Collate an order and fax it in
 Delivery – Thursday (10:00 - 2:00) – Receive the order, organize it and call recipients
There are 8 deliveries per year. Please contact the office if this is of interest to you.
Easter Mums: As in past years, we are pleased to provide you with an opportunity to purchase an
Easter plant or plants (Mums), which will be placed in the Sanctuary as a decoration on Easter
Sunday morning, April 5. After the service please take your plant home or gift it to someone. If
you want to order a plant, order forms are in the Narthex. Cost is $14 per plant
You may purchase your plant as a loving memorial to a deceased relative or friend; you may offer
it to someone who needs to be remembered; or you may purchase it as a warm tribute to someone
you appreciate and treasure in your life today. Order deadline is Sunday, March 29.
Family Retreat – May 29 – 31 for the Family Retreat.
Garage Sale – May 30 – Hosted by the Men’s Group.
Comprehensive Review Task Group - After two years of intensive study and consultation, the
Comprehensive Review Task Group is recommending major changes to The United Church of
Canada that would revitalize and nurture a range of ministries, simplify governance and
administration, and enable the church to live within its resources. For more information, see

Robert Wellingford has now completed several life skills courses at the Calgary Remand Center,
graduating with honors. He has been appointed to a trustee position in the Remand center laundry.

Ministry of Health and Healing
Talking about Grief Workshop - Mon, Apr 20, 6:00-9:00. Presented by Dr. Andrea Halwas with
guest presentation by Nicki and Little Bear. We all go through loss in our lives, however everyone
experiences it differently and has their own coping strategies. This workshop will explore the role
of story as we try to make sense of the losses in our lives and find a way to move forward from the
grief with meaning. Based in the tradition of theatre and narrative, the worship will begin with a
presentation by Nicki & Little Bear – two puppets who aim to help people find meaning in their

Food for Thought Tuesdays, 9:15 - 10:30am - We are reading The Power of Habit: Why we do
what we do in life and Business by Charles Duhigg. (available Chapters or the library) This book
talks about how habits are formed and also how to kick bad ones and hang on to the ones that are

Know someone looking for a creative and exciting summer job that uses their talents, who enjoys
working with others and making a difference in the world?
St. Andrew’s Regional Ministries is hiring a Coordinator and Leaders for its children’s summer
day program called VBS Caravan. The summer day program will be offered weekly at various
United Church locations in Calgary and area in July and August 2015.
The VBS Coordinator position will run from May 1 to August 28, 2015. The VBS Leaders
positions will go from June 22 through to August 28, 2015. See www.andychurch.org for more

Coming Out in Faith - a partnership with The Coming Out Monologues (TCOM) is an event
