ENCOUNTERING JESUS IN MARK Welcome, we’re happy you are here! May 17, 2015 SUNDAY AT BETHEL WELCOME to our worship celebraƟon! Today we conclude the series – “Encountering Jesus in Mark,” encountering “Jesus Who Performs Miracles.” Today also marks the 62nd anniversary of Bethel – Happy Anniversary! A warm welcome to guests. We invite you to stay for refreshments we share together a er the worship service. For more informaƟon about our church and its ministries please come to the Welcome Centre. We invite you to fill in a Guest Card and place it in the offering bag, or bring it to the Welcome Centre to receive a welcome gi from Bethel. NEXT WEEK we celebrate Pentecost and give thanks for the gi of the Holy Spirit, whose work incudes filling those called to provide leadership for the church. In this se ng we will ordain elders and deacons who were nominated by Council, affirmed by the congrega on and chosen by God through the drawing of lots – Dave Hermann and Jim Hurrelbrinck as Deacons, Coby Adema and Rob Vanderlaan as Pastoral Elders, Andrew Elgersma as Young Adult Elder, and Bob Andrews as Ministry Board Elder (Vice-Chair). TODAY’S OFFERING: Benevolence: When people in our church and community have financial challenges, the Deacons use this fund to provide assistance. (SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER GROUP) meets 8:00 am Sunday mornings to pray for the worship service, our church and community. Come out and join us on occasion or on a regular basis. We meet downstairs in classroom #7, in the Children & Youth Wing. -2LIBRARY LINES: Today we have the library table in the Fellowship Hall, and we’re also open downstairs. Come see our new items! LOST AND FOUND TABLE: This is the last day for the lost and found table in the entryway. The table also has dishes that have been le behind from various events. Please take a moment to see if any of the items may be yours. Any Items not claimed will be donated to local chariƟes. EVEREST VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS) is in need of volunteers for adult Camp Counselors and adults in the nursery. If you are able and willing to help us July 20-24, please contact Shannon Furzer, Aimee Adams or Willena Van Donkersgoed. Thank you so much for your considera on. VBS CRAFT: This year we are doing 2 cra s which require T-Shirts. If you have any you can donate that would be great! They can be any size or colour and can have wri ng. Please put them in the box by the Welcome Center. Thank you. YOUTH MISSION TEAM FUNDRAISER: On Friday May 29th our youth mission team will be hos ng a Euchre Tournament and dessert aucƟon. All of the proceeds will be going to fund the projects and ac vi es we will be taking on this summer from July 6-11. Haven’t heard about the trip? That’s because there isn’t one! This is a Mission week RIGHT HERE IN HALTON HILLS! Our students have been talking with local agencies and we will be working to bless our own community. We will start the night at 7:00, then at 8:30 we will share some of what our week will hold and start auc oning off desserts! Cost is $10/person or $20/team for the tournament. More informa on at www.cpj.ca/agm2015. -2CHURCH FAMILY & PRAYER CONCERNS Our Chris an sympathy is extended to Richard & Helena van der Wal with the death of Helena’s sister Daphne last Saturday in Bowmanville. We pray for God’s comfort and care. We give thanks to God and celebrate with Karl & Helen Weigt that Karl is gradua ng this week with an M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlo e, North Carolina. Tom & Grace Silvis will be travelling down this week, along with John & Diane Leferink, to share in the gradua on celebra on. You are invited to sign a card at the Welcome Centre, which will be taken by the Silvis’s to share with Karl & Helen. Our missionary in Uganda, Karen Lubbers, was absolutely delighted with the cards made by the GEMS and signed by so many from Bethel. She is very grateful for the surprise pile of encouragement. Karen also enjoyed mee ng with Harry & Henrie a Reinders in Kampala, sharing dinner and a me of prayer and sharing.
