art of change 21
Art of Change 21 is an initiative for
COP 21. COP 21 is the twenty-first
international Conference on climate
and will take place in Paris in December 2015. Art of change 21 is convinced that
«accelerators of change» are part of
the solution for the climate crisis. Art
of Change 21 is betting on their collaboration.
Art of change 21 is an international
action of the people designed by engaged artists, young eco-players on
climate change and social and green
entrepreneurs.
Its objective is to positively influence
COP21.
Art of Change 21 is not working on a
prepackaged solution but rather a collaborative and international process.
Art of Change 21 includes 4 actions :
MASKBOOK, BRIDGES, CA(i)RE and
WORLD-COP. These projects are
complementary, on line and off line,
before, during and after COP21. They
allow people to participate each at
their own level.
patrons
“I’m honoured to be a patron for Art
of Change 21, because I’m convinced
that the alliance of entrepreneurs,
young people and artists can efficiently and positively contribute to
the struggle against climate change.“
“How lucky we are. We have the scientific data, and as Art of Change
21 shows, we have the creativity of the
world in our hands. We are lucky because we still have time to change.”

On the 28th and 29th of November
at the Gaîté Lyrique, Art of Change
21 managed to assemble in vivo
21 international avant-garde actors; 21 talents: artists, social entrepreneurs and young leaders of the
movement against global warming
- all of whom brainstormed and collaborated for two days, pooling together their collective intelligence.
The result of this conclave: a complete plan of action that takes into
consideration the influence of
COP 21 as well as citizen mobilisation. Thus the artistic, international
and participative COP21 was born.

Art of Change 21 includes 4 actions:
MASKBOOK, BRIDGES, CA(i)RE
AND WORLD-COP. The four projects have been conceived during
theConclave of the 21. They are
complementary as they are online and off-line, on different timetables (before, during and after
COP21); the projects will mobilize
a large range of people, from very
“green” people to the average citizen, alerting them, offering them
solutions to tackle climate change
as well as providing them fun and
easy means to participate.

wORLD-cOP
WORLD-COP is the name of COP21’s Olympic
Games. It’s a sensational sporting event during
which both the stakes and the players involved
whenever climate is concerned take center stage,
between humor and a general questioning of the
subject. Sports are voluntarily parodied and are
also the object of short videos on a dedicated
website which is set up for the occasion as well as
on a betting mobile app.
The games will stage the stakeholders in the climate issue, with the goal of getting people to understand the tensions and inequalities surrounding our planet’s resources. Beyond strong-arming
tactics, the games stage in essence the common
good that we are striving to attain together, by
“playing the game”.
WORLD-COP injects suspense, sports, plays with
symbols, balls and boxing gloves to get people
to start thinking through caricatures and undermining the paradigm of competitiveness.

MASKBOOK
MASKBOOK is a humorous adaptation of the famous social network and uses masks as a symbol
of the link between health and the environment.
Universal to all civilizations, masks give citizen from
“5 to 95 years” a friendly way of participating in the
COP21.
The project includes a website (French/English/
Chinese) inviting citizens to send their “masked”
portrait accompanied by a message suggesting a
solution to the environmental crisis and the request
of an ambitious result for the COP21. The masks
are created by the citizens in an environmental (recycling, upcycling, eco-conception, DIY...) and creative (decorative, design). These “creative masks”
aim to overtake the “defensive” dimension of the
original pollution masks and therefore become the
symbol of a solution.
Artists, fashion designers, celebrities and citizens
are invited to share their “creative mask”. Actions
will be organized in Paris and/or Beijing: nomad
photobooths, screening by the artist Wen Fang at
the eve of the COP21 and masked flashmobs.

BRIDGES
The BRIDGES project consists in the construction
and the connection of eco-designed, manually
built bridges, all autonomous, inhabitable and resilient.
The bridge has a symbolic role: it expresses the link
between the negotiators of COP21 and the civil
society, and between different parts of the world
having to face global warming.
Each bridge is an artistic adaptation experience
using any on-site means available, as well as a laboratory of ideas and a cooperative living space.
Communication systems such as videoconference
equipment will be installed between each bridge
for real-time exchanges before and during COP21.
Two initial bridges will be simultaneously built in
Paris, with the artist Laurent Tixador, and Rio, with
the artist collective Opavivara, members of the
project team.

CA(i)RE
CA(i)RE
The CA(i)RE project unites the words Care and Air
in order to make the personal carbon footprint calculators more attractive thanks to an artistic marketing campaign. It consists of a free mobile application, the goal of which is to make a CO2-free
life-style more desirable and natural.
In concrete terms, the goal is to reduce CO2 emissions and obtain positive progress of citizen behavior.
The calculator will be launched in Paris in September 2015, three months before the COP21. For this
launch, a sound created by the app’s artist Yann
Toma will be transmitted in public places and an
artistic «brigade» will cruise the capital to get people interested in using the app. An artistic installation, set up in Paris, will translate the CO2 saved by
the app’s users. This “gauge-artwork” will reveal
the whole amount of the citizens’ commitment.
