Wenzler, DNP(c), MBA, RN, as Chief Nursing Officer (LANCASTER, Calif. – April 6, 2015) — Antelope Valley Hospital has named Donald T. Wenzler, DNP(c), MBA, RN, as chief nursing officer (CNO), effective today. Wenzler previously served as chief nursing officer at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Philadelphia, where he was responsible for overseeing the operations and quality of the hospital’s patient care services. He has 34 years of experience in nursing, including 18 years at the CNO level spent at such diverse organizations as Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque and Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. In addition, he is an appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program® and has held leadership positions with, and has been invited to speak to, various national and statewide nursing organizations. Wenzler earned his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Minnesota and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Saint Thomas. He is currently completing a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree in executive clinical leadership from Drexel University in Philadelphia. “Donald brings a wealth of experience in a broad variety of care settings,” noted AVH Chief Executive Officer Dennis Knox on the appointment. “In addition, his experience as an appraiser for the Magnet Recognition program makes him extremely knowledgeable in the latest best practices related to patient care and nursing.” As CNO Wenzler will be responsible for overseeing the quality and performance of Antelope Valley Hospital’s clinical operations and patient care services.
