The hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find, None other is so loving, so good and kind. He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way. He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart! C.H.368 Current Prayer Needs: ( *indicates change) *Joel VK has been struggling with a difficult stomach ailment which doctors have not been able to diagnose so far. He has much discomfort and is unable to work. He will be undergoing more tests this week. *Jack B plans to have knee replacement surgery, tomorrow, the 20th. Pray for relief from pain and healing. *Art VO suffered a compression fracture of his spine. He is receiving therapy at home. Pray for relief from pain and healing. Bud B is at Freedom Inn and is receiving therapy and seems to be doing better. Pray for renewed strength. *Duetta O has returned to the Atrium of Royal Park. Pray for renewed strength. Marian H is living at American House (formerly Oakcrest). Pray for the Huyser’s as they make this transition in their lives. Geneva H is home and is making good progress. Luann W is home. Pray for healing and renewed strength. Pray for all of the families/individuals that are wrestling with depression, mental conditions, and personal needs that are unknown to others. Military Service: Steve and Kim B – Steve is stationed in Italy with the Navy. CONDOLENSCES: We express our sincere Christian sympathy to Bud Blauwkamp in the death of his sister Fannie Essenburg. She was 99 years old. Also to Si and Esther Essenburg who were in-laws of Fannie. May Christ’s resurrection be the hope and comfort for those who are mourning. IN APPRECIATION: “A huge thank -you to all who supported me in the walk for life yesterday! This money stays in the Holland area and keeps the Holland office open. Over $800 was collected from our church. If you would still like to donate, you can still do so by putting it in Lu’s mailbox.” Lu Busscher “We would like to thank everyone for your expressions of sympathy, your visits, the cards, and for the food that was brought in when our dear wife and mother left us and went to her eternal home in glory. We would also like to thank Pastor Stephen, Pastor Al, and Jer Machiela for all of the times you came along side of us with scripture, prayer, and words of comfort. Our Savior is risen indeed! Youth Group - our last meeting will be on April 26. Pancake breakfast set up Friday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. and serving Saturday, May 2 until cleaned UPDATES TO BATHROOMS: The upstairs restrooms in the hall by the elevator are being updated. The privacy dividers have been removed, the door handles now have locks, and the bathroom is a one person occupancy. Please remember this when you use them, and perhaps assist children under the age of 6, who may have difficulty opening the heavy door from the inside. Cadet (father/son) Spring Campout will be April 24-25. Please sign up in the narthex. BATTER UP! Calling kids (boys AND girls), ages 8-13: Borculo CRC is fielding a team in our local church softball kids' fun league, and we would LOVE to have you play on the team! Games are played on Wednesday evenings, at various times, on various fields. The season begins after the school year ends and wraps up mid-July. Cost to play is free. No experience necessary. Sign up on the kids' team sheet if you are interested in playing. Contact Tim or Teresa Vander Zwaag with questions. Looking forward to a FUN time together! ***NEW CHURCH DIRECTORY NOTES: The new church pictorial is being planned. Photography will be done by LIFETOUCH the week of May 18-21. You can sign up online (a link is on our church website) for your time slot, or at the table in the narthex beginning TODAY. If you give your e-mail address for an appointment confirmation, you will receive a $10 off coupon to use if you choose to buy any portraits. Also, if you bring in any non-perishable item for the church pantry, you will receive a $5 coupon off your portrait order. We ask for everyone to participate so we can have a complete and updated pictorial directory!! CHURCH Ap/Digital DIRECTORY: This year we will be trying something different in addition to our Church Directory book. It will be through My Instant Church Directory, which will be available as an ap for cell phones as well. It will have convenient access to address, phone numbers and emails. We will need to add your info. to this digital directory, so please fill out the form in your mailbox, and put it in the box in the narthex. The Love Inc. trailer will be in the church parking lot May 1-4 for household items, clothes, small furniture items, etc….do your spring cleaning & let them take it away! CARE PACKAGES: We will be sending out a care package to our college students soon! Please use a card in the narthex to send them an encouraging note for their finals week! ***COFFEE SERVERS: Could you please consider taking one Sunday to help out with the outdoor coffee & cookies fellowship time? Please do this soon, so we can have the schedules in place for the summer months! Sign up sheet is in the narthex. It takes many volunteers to make this social time available! COOKIES: We also need 4 volunteers each Sunday in the summer to bring 4 dozen cookies in the summer months. Please sign up in the narthex if you can help! **VBS REMINDER: Planning has already begun! VBS will be June 15-18 & 20 from 9:00 to noon. (Crew leaders arrive at 8:30 a.m.). We ask you to prayerfully consider helping out this year! It is always a rich blessing to everyone who is involved! Sign-up sheets will be out in May! **REMINDER: Dandelion Festival is a few short weeks away! There are many opportunities to help serve God’s Kingdom through this festival. PLEASE sign up in the narthex today! Many hands are needed to make this day a success! Prayerfully consider if you can help and pray that we will have good weather and a good response to the activities. CHURCH PANTRY - We are collecting personal hygiene products – shampoo, deodorant, feminine products, tooth paste, tooth brushes, razors, band aids, hand lotion, bar soap, shower gel, etc….. We also need your COUPONS, so please put them on the table in the pantry. Thanks for your help with keeping the shelves stocked, and for the opportunity to help those in need! Henry Lecture - On Thursday, April 30, journalist and author Ross Douthat will present the annual Henry Lecture, speaking on “The Future of American Christianity: The Christian Crisis of the 20th Century and its Implications for the 21st.” The lecture will be in the Recital Hall of the Covenant Fine Arts Center on the Calvin College campus, beginning at 7:30 p.m. South Olive CRC invites you to a hymn sing on Sunday, April 19 at 7:45 p.m. Marcia Seinen, Art & Alma Bouwkamp on accordion and electric guitar, plus piano and organ. Special music by Gordon Beukema on the Musical Saw Roger Brandsen will be the song leader. Free will offering will be taken for Crossroad Bible institute. Borculo Christian School will be sponsoring its 9th annual Sporting Clay Shoot at Blendon Pines. The date for the event is April 25 @ 9:00 AM. Cost for the event is $75 for adults, $30 for students ages 10-16 and $150 for station sponsors. Early registration will receive one free raffle ticket. Registration forms can be picked up in the school office or on our website. IRBC Elders Night Out Seminar Part 1 - IRBC will be conducting another seminar in September for elders wanting to learn basic concepts and steps for developing a counseling model that is distinctly reformed. Registration deadline is April 30. Obtain a registration form online at www.reformedbiblicalcounseling.org. Space is limited. First come first served. Mark Your Calendars for the 2015 -- Post Office Food Drive! Every year, the Post Office invites the community to help support local non-profit agencies who provide food to those in need, by donating boxed and canned food items. Last year alone, 73,000 pounds of food was donated to participating organizations! The Post Office is in need of volunteers to help with this year's event on Saturday, May 16th. Lunch will be provided for volunteers on the day of the event! Here's where you are needed: Morning Shift (9:15 am - 12:00 pm) - Assist van drivers in picking up food at houses and taking it to the DeVos Field House parking lot #60 (Lincoln and 9th Street). One driver and two helpers to a van. - Place food in boxes for Center for Women in Transition and Heights of Hope Afternoon Shift (12:45 - 4:00 pm) - Place food in boxes for Holland Rescue Mission, Community Action House and The Salvation Army - General Cleanup of parking lot Volunteers are also needed during the month of June. Small groups of 2-6 are needed to help stock donations in Holland Rescue Mission's food pantry, located at the Men's Ministry Center.
