David and Steve from talking with residents in Aylsham fully support the need to ensure that the market centre of the town remains vibrant and well kept. The other issue is one of not growing crops for food but for generating power using up large acreage of many farms to do so. The original idea for digesters was for small farm use just on one farm self contained using the farms own waste to generate power. This is a very good green way of dealing with waste. The main issue being raised is of the empty shop and the the old Post Office. David and Steve say ‘We have given and will give continued support to residents and the town council with initiatives to bring these privately owned assets back into productive use.’ Despite previous applications for AD plants being accepted by Broadland, both applications have been turned down by the planning committee. At Oulton the developers appealed the decision Recently two planning applications taking it to the planning inspectors. They were submitted to build two large scale anaerobic digesters, the first was lost the appeal vindicating Oulton’s opposition, In Aylsham the developers in Oulton and the second in Aylsham. have another 4 months to mount an Both parish and town council opposed appeal if they wish to do so. An MP that acts upon promises, an MP that is active and seen to be active within our communities. Broadland deserves a hard working MP, an MP that leaves no stone unturned in achieving the best for individual residents and communities here in Broadland and at Westminster. for the voters of Broadland and with your support we can make that change A record of delivery. A promise of more. News in brief Labour can’t win in Broadland Pupil Premium Boost for our Schools Liberal Democrats believe in giving every child a fair start in life. The Pupil Premium was in the Liberal Democrats 2010 election manifesto, and the Lib Dems were able to incorporate it in the coalition Negotiations. The Pupil Premium is paid by the Government to schools and is targeted at the children of lower income families who qualify for free school meals. These children have previously been lower achievers compared with their peers from a less disadvantaged background. Schools in our area have benefited from the Pupil Premium to the tune of tens of thousands of pounds in the 2014/15 financial year. The schools can decide how the money is spent provided it is used to help these disadvantaged children. This can take various forms, for example; extra staff for 1 to 1 or group catch up sessions, counselling or nurturing sessions, or for subsidising school educational visits. The results for these children show that the intervention is working. Contact the Lib Dems: Steve says ‘’I know from talking with teachers and head teachers in our area that this funding has been of real benefit to the whole of the school they teach in as well as individual children. Liberal Democrat policy is making so much difference to children’s lives and to their future.’’ Free School Meals: Lib Dem policy on school meals means that thousands of primary children in Norfolk now receive a free nutritious lunchtime meal. Research shows that providing free school meals has real benefits for pupils’ attainment by improving concentration. It also saves parents about £400 over a school year.
