Our Chicano Link Peer Mentor Program extends a bienvenida into the UCR familia to new
freshman and transfer students. One-on-one meetings, study sessions and academic workshops
all support a positive transition to UCR and promote new students’ academic, cultural and social
success. Apply today and discover how rewarding mentorship can be.
BE A MENTOR
Are you a current student interested in becoming a mentor? Your role as a Chicano Link Peer
Mentor is to connect with new UCR students. You would serve as a positive role model/mentor
and assist incoming students with their transition to UCR and connect them to our UCR familia. It
is important that incoming students receive information on campus support services like Chicano
Student Programs.
Chicano Link Peer Mentors must...









Be a UCR student (junior or higher) in good academic standing with a cumulative and
quarter GPA of 2.5 or higher
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Be aware of issues specifically related to Chicano/Latino students
Be open-minded and flexible
Be energetic, motivated, and positive
Be willing to learn, grow and attend training as needed
Attend monthly meetings and mandatory zero week training
Attend 3 programs per quarter
Work with mentees for at least 30 minutes every two weeks
