WEB Leader Application - Del Mar Middle School

What is WEB & what do WEB Leaders do?
•

•
•
!
WEB stands for Where Everyone Belongs.
WEB Leaders go through extensive (and very fun) training to work with the incoming 6th graders to help
support them in their transition to Del Mar.
WEB Leaders will help run 6th grade orientation and will meet with the 6th graders throughout the school
year to touch base, discuss problems and lead fun activities.
Being a WEB Leader is a year-long commitment— WEB Leaders support each other and the 6th graders
from the first day of school until the last.

Read over the information on this application with your parents and sign (on back of this sheet).
Answer the question on the back side of this sheet.
Questions? Talk to Ms. Konkle (mkonkle@reedschools.org), Ms. Jones (njones@reedschools.org), Dr. Kover
(dkover@reedschools.org) or Ms. Hamilton (hhamilton@reedschools.org).
A Note to Parents:
In order to have the most effective program possible, we have a series of mandatory trainings that WEB
leaders must attend. Please be sure these dates work into your family’s summer schedule before submitting this
application.
WEB leaders will be given the responsibility of managing and instructing a small group of 8-10 sixth graders
on Orientation Day in a series of activities; these are done in an effort for the WEB leaders and sixth graders to
get to know each other better as well as allow the WEB leaders the opportunity to pass on some valuable
information about being successful in middle school. In addition to Orientation Day, WEB leaders will spend
some of their regular advisory/study hall time to train for and lead academic and social activities in 6th grade
advisories.
Our desire is to offer support for the sixth grade class as well as help each WEB leader develop his/her full
leadership potential. We appreciate your support of our efforts.
“Why I Would Make a Great WEB Leader.”
Please read about the expectations of being part of the WEB program on the other side of this paper. Then
write a paragraph describing how your qualities and characteristics as well as life experiences will make you
an excellent addition to the WEB program. Although you are not being graded and spelling does not count,
please write neatly and answer honestly and thoroughly.
