Air raids on Yemen
capital mount
Sanaa: Saudi-led warplanes intensified their air strikes against Yemeni
rebels in the capital Wednesday, fuelling panic as political efforts to end a
war that has displaced half a million
people foundered.
The Arab coalition has waged an air
campaign against the Iran-backed Shiite rebels since March 26 in an effort to
restore the authority of exiled President
Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi, who fled to
Riyadh. After a five-day humanitarian
ceasefire expired at the weekend, the
Saudi-led coalition resumed bombing
several cities including the capital, accusing the rebels of having violated the
truce. Witnesses in rebel-held Sanaa
described Wednesday`s bombing
as the most violent so far, prompting
residents to flee.
Pak ATC
summons 7 in
Mumbai case
Islamabad: A Pakistani antiterrorism court holding the trial of
the seven Mumbai attack accused,
including mastermind Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, today summoned seven
witnesses for the next hearing after
the case record was finally submitted
to it. The Islamabad High Court finally
sent back the record of the Mumbai
attack case to the Anti-Terrorism
Court (ATC), also in Islamabad, after
over four months when it was told that
the case had moved “an inch” since
the record was lying with the IHC. The
Mumbai case record was transferred
to the IHC in the first week of January
when the federal government challenged the bail to Mumbai attack
mastermind Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi.

have the best
subject wise positions, 179 distinctions
of both worlds
KING C BHARATI
Jammu, May 20|15: As they
say “you can’t have the best of
both worlds” as one can pursue
only one direction at one time
but in Kashmir there is a peculiar situation created by the
vested interests since the Independence that if you belong to
a pressure group you can have
several worlds in one go.
Had it not been so how could
one justify the Geelani-Govt diatribe over Passport issue where
Geelani wants to have the cake
and eat it too by expressing his
whole hearted love for Pakistan
and hatred for India but expects
India to issue his passport on
priority basis.
According to holy Koran a true
Muslim is the one who does not
change his words or his commitment and he says the truth,
Halal as Halal and Haraam as
Haraam; and this is what Geelani wants every Kashmiri Muslim to follow and practice while
demanding secession from India
and rejecting the Indian nation
hood but at the same time his office wants Indian government to
issue him a passport as Indian
citizen to travel to Jeddah in
Saudi Arabia to meet his ailing
daughter.
Here the issue of his rejection
of Indian nationhood and open
support to secessionism is being
trivialized by his supporters under the garb of humanitarian aspect of his ailing daughter waiting to see her father.
While there is no denying
the fact that any father must
have access to his children or
the world to travel freely but
when someone has waged a war
against a country how can he
justify his application for issuing travel documents as a matter of his right while denouncing the same country on all
other occasions. If this was so
simple why does his office want
a passport to Geelani and do not
press for thousands of others
who have been denied the opportunity to visit their relatives
or pursue their careers aboard
only due to their proximity to
the outfits like that of Geelanis
and others that prevents them
from getting an India Passport
to travel abroad. If Geelani’s application has a human interest
value what about others who
have surrendered such rights
only due to Geelani’s venomous
speeches against India.

EARTH NEWS SERVICE
Jammu, May 20|15: Keeping its flag
high as ever SP Smart School has once again
proved its mettle as a different and unique
school in Jammu and Kashmir where students excel without seeking private tuitions
to restore the credibility of the educational
institutions which had been lost by others
due to over dependence on private tuitions
of the students.
The SP Smart Schooling system which
has a USP in special education system came
shining today in 12th class Board results for
regular students by grabbing a lion’s share
in the merit list with 7 main positions, 171

When Education Returns to Institution, Corruption Vanishes
subject-wise positions, 179 distinctions excluding the positions and 223 1st divisions
showing the way that excellence can be
achieved in the modern days even without
any tuition system.
It is worthwhile to mention here that SP
Smart School discourages its students from
seeking private tuitions as the institution
stresses on better education within the class
rooms rather than depending on private tuitions.
In today’s results the first position in arts
faculty went to Muskaan Rajwal, D/O Sanjeev and Jyoti Rajwal of SP Smart School
Exchange Road securing 486/500 marks
aggregating 97.2% to get to the top. The SP

Jammu, May 20 |15: Former
Chief of Pakistani Army Pervez
Musharraf, who also ruled over
the country for a long time, is
usually frank and straightforward in his talks. He normally
says things from his heart and
has a devil may care attitude.
His comments are often considered off the cuff and he does not
shy away from saying out what
he means. This is considered a
part of his being, a result of the
training he got at the highest
level as a military commando.
Taking risks is in his nature as
is the wont of any commando.
He did take many risks in his
life and is often remembered
here for the failed summit meeting with then Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. A

Maha allow women
to work in night
Mumbai: Maharashtra government today decided to make
necessary changes in the Factories
Act, 1948 to allow women to work in
factories in night shifts. The decision
was taken at a meeting of the state
Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis here.
Earlier, section 66 (1) (c) of the
Factories Act, 1948 restricted women
from working at a factory between
7 PM and 6 AM. Now that has been
done away with, an official said.
The managements will have to
ensure security of women working in
night shift. The Cabinet also decided
to make necessary changes in the
Factories Act, 1948 which will lead
to 14,300 factories being free from
‘inspector raj’.

ammu and Kashmir is
known for its tourist
spots that transcend
the beauty of any of the
tourist destination in India but
the Jammu region is mostly
known for its world famous pilgrimage of Mata Vaishnodevi
Ji that attracts more than a
crore of pilgrims every year.
However apart from Mata
Vaishnodevi no other religious
place in the region has been
promoted on a bigger canvas to
present Jammu as a complete
pilgrim tourism circuit due to
the abundance of ancient and
famous pilgrimage points in
the region.
Jammu which is known as
city of temples could have
been promoted as a compete
tourist package to complement
the Kashmir tourism as this
region consists of both winter
and summer zones, beautiful
landscapes, fascinating hill
views, magnificent valleys
numerous ancient and famous
temples that give a complete
tourist package for a person
visiting the state.
Since the new government
has dedicated itself in promotion of tourism of all the three
regions equally it is imperative
that all the regions are promoted according to their unique
selling points so that the state
becomes a most sought after
complete tourist destination
j&k: a dream destination
for domestic and international
tourists.
Coming to Jammu which
has large number of ancient
and popular temples pilgrim
tourism coupled with leisure
tourism can be promoted ef-
fectively.
While yesterday we discussed
the leisure tourism through
artificial lake on river Tawi
we devote these columns to
specific place like Purmandal
to highlight the uniqueness for
which it can be promoted as a
tourist destination.
Purmandal has a history
associated with ancient times
and is also known as Chota
Kashi and is in close proximity with Mansar and Surinsar
besides being at the gateway of
Jammu.
Thus if promoted as a pilgrim
tourist place Purmandal can
complement the pilgrimage
of Mata Vaishnodevi to form
a new pilgrim tourism circuit
that begins from Purmandal
and ends at Mata Vaishnodevi.
The magnificent temple of
Purmandal on the banks of
River Devika has a geographical location and architecture
that enchants any visitor visiting the place.
The underground river is
another attraction that can
be promoted and the old and
ancient paintings on the walls
of the temple besides the Aap
Shambu and other historical facts associated with the
temple are worth popularizing
through advertisements and
internet to evoke interest
among the people visiting
Mata Vaishnodevi so that
they include the place in their
itinerary.
Purmandal is one of the first
things that come to the mind of
many people, while discussing
Jammu as it has its own brand
of unique charm and countless
visitors just can’t stop gushing
about the place.
The charismatic Purmandal
Temple complex, situated on
the banks of an underground
river cloaked by sand with water oozing out by a mere touch
of the feet is also referred as
