We find our Liturgy on page 266 of the teal book. ‘A man can have no greater love than that he lay down his life for his friends.’ In the first reading today we hear that God’s love is not just for the Hebrews but for everyone; His love knows no bounds. John, in the second reading, reminds us how we are called to react to this great love of God; we, in turn, are to love one another. It is as simple and as complicated as that. Despite any hurts accumulated, we are to risk love always. How do we do that? The Gospel deepens our understanding: Jesus says that he loves us with the same intense love with which the Father loves Him. What an astonishing, powerful gift. He promises that if we live this love, the result will be joy. So many people today are seeking to be happy, looking for the answer to the question: “what is the meaning of life? Do I know someone who needs to hear this Good News? How am I going to bring them joy this week? PARISH CONTACTS Rev. Jamie Boyle BD (Parish Priest) Rev. Andrew Garden Rev. There will be a workshop on Wednesday 27th May for all three parishes at 7:30pm in St Mary of the Angels Hall. Given the fall in vocations, it is crucial that we as lay people live out the spirit of Vatican II and fully take up our rights and responsibilities as the Baptised. Sometimes we hold back as laity, unsure of how useful we might be or just how we might help. Peter in the first reading today says with great humility: ‘I am only a man after all’. It is the Holy Spirit, lived out through the gifts He gives us, who enables us to be what we need to be. Please, join us in discussing our way forward as an Archdiocese. We’re all being called to be open to new ways to live out our love for God as part of our community. The joy we find there gives Life and deepens our connection to God again and again. Will you let the God of Surprises surprise you? Come, join us. New Parishioners If you are new to our community, welcome! Please introduce yourself to the clergy, and join us for coffee after Sunday mass. We’d ask you to fill out a parish registration form too, either online at www.falkirkcatholics.org/wordpress or using a registration form which can be found in the porch.
