MUSICAL PRODUCTION of the Interior Castle
to celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the birth of St. Teresa of Avila
The Interior Castle is a Musica Aperta Production, commissioned by the cloistered Discalced Carmelite Nuns of
Our Lady and St. Joseph in Boston, to celebrate the 500th Anniversary of St. Teresa of Avila’s birth. The Interior
Castle presentation is composed of a symphony ensemble, vocalists, video and poetry which musically explores
the threads and connections between St. Teresa’s life, her final writings and their relevance in the 21st century
world as seen through the eyes of a young female reporter. This once in a lifetime presentation is scheduled to premiere on Friday, June 5th, at 6:30pm here at Our Lady of Fatima Church.
By combining St. Teresa’s words and original text with music spanning several centuries, and including original
works composed especially for this production, Musica Aperta introduces the spirituality of the Saint to our contemporary audience by means of a trip backwards in time from our current society, obsessed with public communication and social media, to an inner and more spiritual world in which the soul and its discovery become the focus.
Musica Aperta’s prismatic approach to its production allows the creative team to find inspiration not only from
music and poetry but also from art, dance, and video. Utilizing video projected sets and texts, The Interior Caste
can be presented as a visual and very personal voyage throughout the seven “Mansions” of St. Teresa’s spiritual
classic, The Interior Caste.
This once in a lifetime presentation is being sponsored by the local Discalced Secular Carmelite Communities.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Carmelite Monastery, the office of Our Lady of Fatima
Church, or through any Secular Carmelite member. This production promises to be a spectacular experience,
one that will take you by the hand and the heart and lead you in your journey through prayer to Jesus.
IT JUST GOT EASIER!
Introducing an APP for Online Giving
This is a convenient option for Apple device users. The APP
will allow users to register for Online Giving for the first time
and log in to manage their account. Donors can make a one
time gift, schedule recurring gifts, and even create pledges in
the APP. Donors can also update their banking information,
credit cards, and look at their giving history.
Our Sunday Visitor’s Product Manager, Chris Taylor said:
“As the number of people who are using smart phones as their
preferred way of accessing content online continues to grow,
we wanted to make Online Giving more easily accessible to
this demographic and not be a barrier to their desire to give.
The mobil APP does this. It bring Online Giving to smart
phones in a convenient way.”
Go to www.fatimalafayette.org AND CLICK THE LINK for
Online Giving. Follow instructions to get started!
We’re making it easier for Fatima school families to meet
their yearly offertory giving AND to complete “registered
status” requirements.
CATECHISM CORNER
What is meant by the Ascension of the Lord?
So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them,
was taken up into heaven, and sat at the right hand
of God” (Mark 16:19).
Christ’s body was glorified at the moment of his
Resurrection, as proved by the new and supernatural
properties it subsequently and permanently enjoys.
But during the forty days after the Resurrection,
when Jesus eats and drinks familiarly with his disciples and teaches them about he kingdom, his glory
remains veiled under the appearance of ordinary
humanity. Jesus’ final apparition ends with the irreversible entry of his humanity into divine glory,
where he is seated in heaven from that time forward
at God’s right hand. Only in a wholly exceptional
and unique way would Jesus show himself to St.
Paul, in a last apparition that established Paul as an
apostle.
