This inaugural conference will focus on the issue of identifying, preventing, and mitigating the spread pests and plant pathogens through restoration. Our long term objectives are to address a different restoration issue annually and: 1) Identify stumbling blocks to achieving ecologically and economically successful restoration of disturbed lands in California. 2) Bring experts, practitioners, suppliers, and policy makers together to develop best management practices to overcome these obstacles. Who should attend: Policy makers, land owners, conservation organizations, agencies and jurisdictions managing open space or rightsof-way, nurseries, seed collectors and distributors, consultants, researchers, and any other active practitioners of restoration and suppliers of restoration materials or services. Topics covered: New and emerging pests and pathogens, Current known distribution of important pests and pathogens, Identifying pests and pathogens, Best management practices for control and quarantine, Mitigation for sites already infested or infected, Relevant policies Photo: Suzanne Latham Organizations represented: California Department of Food and Agriculture, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, California Association of Nursery Growers and Retailers, University of California and UC Cooperative Extension, and more.
