GOYA EMPLOYMENT, IT AND SELFIMPROVEMENT AWARDS 2015 INTRODUCTION. GOYA held its first awards ceremony of 2015 recognising personal achievement of our users. The award ceremony was conducted under three themes; Recognising pathways into Employment and Self-Employment Recognising volunteering Recognising Education and Training accomplishment Recognising Skills for Life accomplishments. 1.Recognising pathways into Employment and Self-Employment From June 2014 to February 2015, GOYA supported and helped 39 unemployed individuals faced with multiple challenges secure sustainable employment. During the same time, GOYA supported 12 individuals fulfil their ambition of setting up their own viable and sustainable businesses. 2. Recognising Volunteering GOYA recognised 14 volunteers who have helped shape and develop GOYA's work. Volunteering is one of the most used and unfortunately abused term in the voluntary and other sectors, but at GOYA, volunteering is revered, encouraged and fully recognised. Faced with austere and harsh funding environment, GOYA as an organisation would have ceased to function without the dedicated support of our volunteers. 3. Recognising Education and Training accomplishments From April 2014 to February 2015, GOYA’s training and educational project activities has engaged with 220 users. GOYA's community based learning and a unique delivery methodology has engaged some of the hardest to reach/access sections of our community. 60 learners (100% on target) successfully completed GOYA's UK Online English My Way training scheme. 120 users have completed GOYA's UK Online Basics training. 98 users completed GOYA's pathway to employment/self-employment training sessions. 4. Recognising Skills for Life accomplishments. In addition to the above awards being given to our users, GOYA also decided to give awards to users that have gained 'skills for life' know-how through some of our training and direct project activities. GOYA awarded 40 beneficiaries with 'skills for life' awards; from our Do$h Financial Literacy project that supports users take control over and manage their financial circumstances; Youth Conflict and Anger Management project that supported young people with anger issues better manage and control conflicts.
