Those parishioners wishing to marry at Holy Family must contact the Priest or Deacon AT LEAST EIGHT MONTHS before the date of the wedding. Box 619 East Taunton, MA. 02718 March 22, 2015 HOLY FAMILY EAST TAUNTON ANNOUNCEMENTS 5thSunday of Lent PRAYER INTENTIONS MEN’S DISCERNMENT WEEKEND Any men 30 and older who are thinking the Lord may be possibly be calling them to the priesthood are invited to attend a Discernment Retreat being led by Cardinal Sean O’Malley at Pope St. John Seminary in Weston, MA on March 27th and 28th. If you interested please notify Fr. Kevin. PARISH YOUTH ACTIVITIES The Youth of the Parish would like to invite you to stop by the Parish Center on your way to the Stations of the Cross. They will be offering a "Simple Supper" Friday nights during Lent. They will be serving from 6:00 to 6:45, please join them. SPECIAL INTENTION Please pray for Samantha Pereira(2years old) and Keiana Araujo(2 months old) Both are having surgery the last week in April. HOLY FAMILY GIRL’S SOCIETY Please join us for Holy Family Girl's Society, a hospitality program for girls 8-18. We will meet for five weeks, concluding with a Mother/Daughter Tea on May 23rd at 12 noon. There will be talks on the virtues, a hands-on experience with a craft all the while learning to serve others through Christ. Please call/text Jennifer by April 8th (508405-7041). Our first get together will be April 11th at 10 am to 12 in the Parish Center. The dates of the get togethers will be Saturday's April 11, 25 and May 2, 16 & 23. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Edgar M. da Cunha, Bishop of Fall River, has authorized the formation of a new class for the formation of Permanent Deacons. If you know of anyone who wishes to be considered for the next class, please notify Fr. Kevin as soon as possible. An and information evening is scheduled for March 24, 2015, at St. Mary’s Church in New Bedford, at 7PM. The period of Aspirancy will begin on April 7, 2015, and the academic formation year will begin in the Fall of 2015. Please pray for any men you think the Lord may be calling to this great vocation. PLEASE KEEP IN YOUR PRAYERS In the last week two of our parishioners passed away and we ask for your prayers for them and their families. Please pray for Alvarina Matthews and Clare Galuski. Alvarina’s funeral was Thursday, March 19th and Clare’s funeral was Saturday, March 21st. MANY THANKS I just wanted to thank everyone for their kindness and well wishes last week. Obviously some guy in the parish worked very hard to make sure everyone knew of their pastor’s birthday. I think I need to admit defeat to JR that I can’t top his efforts and hopefully next year there will not be as much attention to the birthday. SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER Pack 87 will be holding a Spaghetti Dinner & Raffle Auction, on April 11, 2015 at the Holy Family Parish Center. The activities for the week are as follows: Monday, March 30th – Tuesday, March 31st – Giant Church Cleaning at 6:30 pm Chrism Mass at The Cathedral of St. Mary in Fall River at 4:00 pm. All are welcome. No Confessions this Tuesday because of the Chrism Mass Wednesday, April 1st – Confessions in the church from 5:45 – 6:45 pm Holy Thursday, April 2nd- Adoration will end at 3:00 pm. Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00 p.m. (visiting 7 churches after Mass, then gathering for pizza and ice cream in the Parish Center). Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm. Good Friday, April 3rd – 12:00-3:00 p.m. Seven Last Words of Christ in the church. 3:00 p.m.-The Living Stations Confessions after stations until 5:30 7:00 Good Friday Service th Holy Saturday, April 4 – Easter Vigil at 8:00 pm (the holiest celebration of the year) Easter Sunday, April 5th – Masses at 7:30, 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. STATIONS OF THE CROSS This Friday is the last time this Lent we will pray the Stations of the Cross in the church at 7:00 p.m. EXTRA CONFESSIONS DURING LENT Along with the regular Tuesday (5:45-6:45 pm) and Saturday (3:00 – 3:50 p.m.) confessions, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered after each daily morning Mass, and each Wednesday from 5:45-6:45 p.m. LAWS OF ABSTINENCE Don’t forget during Lent for those who are 14 years of age and older they are obliged to observe the laws of abstinence which one is to abstain from meat all Fridays of Lent. TRANSFORMATIONAL MUSICAL LENTEN EXPERIENCE A Free Concert “I THIRST” Featuring “TAJCI” is meant to help people find a deeper connection with God through the music through the story of internationally celebrated singer/song writer TAJCI. It will be on this Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Jude the Apostle Parish Church (249 Whittenton St., Taunton). Those who have heard Tajci have said how beautiful her voice is. A collection will be taken to benefit “My Brother’s Keeper”. One is to visit St. Joseph Oratory, Montreal, and Quebec from June 17th – 22nd. The cost varies between room occupancy ($1,195 pp triple occupancy, $1395 pp double occupancy, and $1,975 pp single occupancy). The second pilgrimage is to Ireland from Aug. 22nd – 31st. Cost is $2,801 for double occupancy but for single add $350. There are forms on the table by our pamphlet rack in the church and outside the office in the Parish Center with details about the trips. COYLE & CASSIDY MINI OPEN HOUSE Coyle and Cassidy High School and Middle School Division is accepting applications for grades 6-12! We will be having a special "Mini Open House" Thursday, April 9th from 6:30-8:00 pm, with a presentation beginning at 7:00 pm. SUPPORT OUR RUNNING MAN Our parishioner Ron Riederer is running the Boston Marathon in support of the Heather Abbott Foundation, which aids limb-loss victims. He will be selling raffle calendars on March 21st and 22nd at the end of each mass for $10. A signed Patriots jersey, Red Sox tickets and gift cards to local businesses are among the prizes. Your help is greatly appreciated YES! RETREAT Yes! Retreat is a retreat for High Schoolers in grades 9-12. It is preferred that those who attend have received the Sacrament of Confirmation but exceptions can be made. The retreat will be Friday, April 10th – Sunday, April 12th at Cathedral Camp in East Freetown. The cost for the retreat is $155 per person (and $180 for late registrations). If interested please grab a registration form from the back table of the church by the pamphlets or at outside the office in the Parish Center. HOLY FAMILY EAST EGG HUNT On Saturday, March 28th will be the Annual Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt will be held at the Parish Center it will begin at 11:00 a.m., it is for ages 3 to 10. Donations of small wrapped candy and small prizes will be greatly appreciated. BOSTON RED SOX CATHOLIC NIGHT On Wednesday, July 29th @ 7:10 p.m. Red Sox vs. the White. A great chance to promote fellowship, camaraderie and church attendance. Pre-game Ceremony honoring members of the Catholic Community! Ticket Rates are Bleachers - $30 or Infield Grandstand - $55. Group Size is 20 quests or more. If you have less than 20 you can be paired with another church. Church Recognition "Leader of the Pack" Pre-Game Ceremony, Catholic Choir Performances & Scoreboard Messages. DIOCESE OF FALL RIVER JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL RALLIES Together, we are called to live the beatitudes, living according to God's plan; becoming people who rely on God completely, and live to do God's will. Cost is $5 per person. For Faith Formation, Monday, March 23rd at Bishop Stang or Tuesday March 24th at John Paul II High School the Rallies are 6p.m. to 8p.m. The Rallies begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. High School Rally will be Sunday, March 22nd at Bishop Stang from 11:15 to 6:30.
