University of Exeter Year 12 Summer Residentials Why attend? Attendance at a Year 12 summer residential gives you the opportunity to spend 4 days on a University of Exeter campus finding out about student life for yourself. No other event will give you the kind of experience you can gain at a residential from learning more about the subject that interests you to developing new skills and making new friends. Attendance at a University of Exeter Year 12 residential will also entitle you to an alternative lower offer for courses offered by the University*. What will I do? It will be a busy 4 days but we want you to make the most of the time you spend with us and show you as much as we can of the University and the local area. Activities will include – A subject specific activity strand of your choice A chance to use a range of university facilities – to include accommodation and sports facilities A range of social activities – to include exploring the local area and trying your hand at cooking Throughout the week you will also have a team of University of Exeter Student Ambassadors with you who will be able to share their experiences of being an undergraduate student. When are they happening? In 2015 we will be running 9 different subject activity strands across three of our university campuses as follows – Archaeology (Streatham Campus, Exeter) Biosciences (Penryn Campus, Cornwall) Drama (Streatham Campus, Exeter) History (Streatham Campus, Exeter) Geology, Mining Engineering & Renewable Energy (Penryn Campus, Cornwall) Medicine (St Lukes & Streatham Campus, Exeter) Modern Languages - French or Spanish (Streatham Campus, Exeter) Psychology (Streatham Campus, Exeter) University – for me or not for me? (Penryn Campus, Cornwall) At the point of applying you will be asked to select your first and second choice subject activity strand and will then be allocated a place on the relevant residential. The dates for the two different residentials are as follows – - Penryn Campus, 30th June – 3rd July 2015 - Streatham & St Lukes Campuses, 14th – 17th July 2015 *the alternative offer will be subject to successful completion of a post application assessment day and is usually two A level grades below a standard entry offer (some course exemptions do apply). Where do I stay? All attendees will have their own ensuite room within one of our blocks of self-catered student halls. Each flat also comes complete with its own kitchen and living area. All bedding and towels will be provided. How much will it cost? It will cost you nothing! All accommodation, food and travel costs will be paid for you.
