1st Reading: Jeremiah 31:31-34
nd
2 Reading: Ephesians 2:4-10
2nd Reading: Hebrews 5:7-9
Gospel: John 3:14-21
Gospel: John 12:20-33
Responsorial Psalm:
Lord let my tongue be silenced if I ever forget you. (CWB 477).
Gospel Acclamation:
God loved the world so much, he gave his only Son, that all who believed in him
might have eternal life.
We pray for those who have died recently especially Patrick Lucas and Margaret
Beriman and for those whose anniversaries occur at this time, especially, Margaret
O’Dea, Gerald Collins, Tony Rogers, Pierina and Neil Zanardo.
Living the Paschal Mystery
When we speak of God’s great love for
the world, that he created as good, we
are challenged by the existence of
human suffering and the apparent
triumph of evil and darkness. If God is
good and loves the world, how can we
make sense of evil and suffering? Job
wrestled with this question. As
Christians, we can only make sense of it
by contemplating the cross on which
Christ was lifted up as a sign of both
agony and triumph for a hope that
reaches beyond death.
Prayer
A variation on today’s Collect is apt
for those approaching Baptism or
reception:
O God, who through your Word
reconciles the human race to
yourself, grant, we pray, that with
devotion and faith, we may hasten
toward the solemn celebrations to
come.
Pray this prayer often this week.
RITE OF WELCOME
We welcome the Donohue, Horozidis, Rao, Scott, Steinschulte, Taouk, Tay, Varasso,
Wilks-Beasy, and Xuereb families as they present their children in preparation for
baptism.
CITY OF BOROONDARA COMMUNITY HUB
The Council has entered into a four-year project, 2014-2018 to provide a centre for
community services and programs for residents in north–east Balwyn to be called the
‘Community Hub’. Over the next two months Council is seeking to raise awareness of
the plans for this new and exciting precinct. Anne English has agreed to be our parish
liaison to Council and she has prepared displays in all the Churches. Please familiarise
yourself with the development (www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/north-east-hub) and provide
feedback either directly to Council or to Anne via the Parish Office. Community
meetings will be held in May to elicit feedback from interested parties.

PROJECT COMPASSION
“One human family, food for all”, aimed at ending hunger by 2025.” Week 4 of Lent
Sarita was struggling to grow enough food for her family on her tiny farm plot. In
2007, with the assistance of a program run by Caritas Nepal, she started a fish-raising
business with 11 others. Now, they have a life-long source of food and income.
Please donate to Project Compassion 2015 and help people in rural Nepal
create a life-long source of food and income to benefit entire communities.
