CLAIR COLLEGE Ground Transportation Robert Q Airbus www.robertQ.com (1-800-265-4948) The RobertQ shuttle service provides ground transportation services to and from Pearson (Toronto) Airport (YYZ) and Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) to various locations in Southern Ontario. The fee from Toronto Airport to Chatham-Kent is approximately $84.55; and $61.20 from Detroit Metro Airport. *** You may book RobertQ online in advance (www. robertQ.com) of your arrival to ensure that your shuttle will be available as soon as possible after your flight. It is important that once you have landed at Toronto Airport or Detroit Metro Airport and have picked up your luggage, that you then proceed to the customs officer/passport control to certify your student-visa here in Canada. If you have not booked in advance; you will need to locate and inform the Robert Q Shuttle Services that you will be traveling to Chatham-Kent, Ontario. Confirmation of Arrival and College Pick-Up Thames Campus is located at 1001 Grand West Avenue, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, N7M 5W4 A representative from St. Clair College will coordinate with you your transportation via RobertQ shuttle services to Chatham-Kent. Upon arrival you are asked to proceed to the designated motel/hotel for a complimentary stay while you find housing. In order to assist you we will need the date and time of arrival in advance and a photo copy of your ticket. There are also day trips offered on a seasonal basis to participate in Canadian activities such as ice skating, nature walks and apple picking. FIELD TRIPS In conjunction with your program, such as the International Business Management program, there are field trips to places that relate to your field of study. SCHOLARSHIPS St. Clair College has exclusive scholarships for international students. We can help you get information and apply for these scholarships. On Campus housing Coming to Canada Books and Supplies Heath Insurance Please make arrangements to arrive in Chatham-Kent, Ontario at least 3-4 days before the start date of your program. The approximate cost of books and supplies has been stated in your Letter of Acceptance. Your St. Clair College tuition fees do not include the cost of books and supplies you will need for your course. On average, students spend about $600-$1,000 each semester on supplies. Your St. Clair College tuition fees include comprehensive heath insurance. If you become ill or have an accident in Canada, your health insurance will pay for consultations with doctors, specialists, and other heath care providers. Your books and supplies can be purchased from the campus bookstore such as; Your college health insurance coverage will begin on the first day of the month of your school term. Please contact the International Office, to pick-up your Campus Care Health Insurance Card. Classes Begin Starting times will vary based on your program. You will be expected to be in class on time with your books and supplies. Step One You will be prompted when using St. Clair computers to enter your student ID and password. - Then proceed to click “Self-Service Click Here” User ID You must enter your personal student number that is located on your student ID card along with the letter “W” as shown in the window below. - Click on “Campus Personal Information” from the menu; then click “Email Addresses” within the menu. (Figure 1 - St. Clair Connect Homepage) - Follow the steps on this page and add your personal email address to register and setup your St. Clair Connect ID. Password Your password will be the first two letters of your first name and first two letters of your last name CAPITALIZED along with the last four digits of your student number. Example Name: John Smith Student Number: 0207130 Password = JOSM7130 Blackboard Login Steps Self-Service Login Steps Self-Service is used to check your schedule, select elective courses, view your final grades, and other information regarding your College account. Example Name: John Smith Student Number: 0207130 Password = JOSM7130 Password Your password will be the first two letters of your first name and first two letters of your last name CAPITALIZED along with the last four digits of your student number. Blackboard is used to get information from your professors such as assignments and notes and may be used to check your grades during the semester. Step One You will see a website that looks like the one below. Step One Click on the Student Email Login from www.stclaircollege.ca. You will be taken to a website that looks like the one to the right. Step Two User ID You must enter your personal student number that is located on your student ID card along with the letter “W” as shown in the window below. We recommend that you utilize this Guide to store information such as important dates, professors’ email addresses, supplies that you may need and other information you think is important. NOTES Working During Your Studies The Canadian government supports the idea of international students working part time to offset many of the costs associated with studying in Canada—e.g., tuition fees, accommodation, food, entertainment, etc. Therefore, after 6 months of full time post secondary studies, students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week off campus and 40 hours per week during vacation breaks. Contact the St. Clair College International Office after 6 months of study for assistance in completing your work-study permit application. For additional information about student work permits, please visit: www.cic.gc.ca/english/ information/applications/workstudents.asp Working After Graduation Upon completion of your post secondary studies, a post-graduate open work permit is available to graduates. This permit is valid for 1 - 3 years based on a student’s program of study.
