IP Transit solution offering high quality connectivity
IP Transit
IP Transit solution offering high quality connectivity to the major
international Internet backbones through MEO’s European and USA
POP and direct access to one of the biggest Data Center in Europe
Applications
Connect your ISP’s network to the most important
international Internet backbones and access all our peering
relations’s network in an easy, scalable and highly efficient
way using our IP transit solution. Both IPv4 and IPv6
standards are supported in dual stack mode.
All accesses have true bidirectional bandwidth: we do not
use traffic shapping or contention within our backbone.
If you are operating outside Portugal, connect with us using
an international circuit (submarine cable or satellite) from
your CPE up to our nearest IP platform node and you will
have the same benefits and QoS as a local ISP.
Our service also provides direct connectivity and access to
one of the biggest Data Center in Europe.
Due to the low latency, our network can accommodate VoIP
traffic from any African country with destination to Europe or
USA.
How it works
IP Transit uses MEO’s extended submarine and
terrestrial fibre cables networks to access the main NAP in
Europe and the USA (ex: 75 ms RTT to Miami).
The MEO’s AS8657 is among the top 100 ranking of CAIDA
and connected to the main Tier One Internet backbones,
as well as, to hundreds of peering relations through public or
private peering sessions, supported on our international
backbone with POP located in Lisbon, Linda-a-Velha,
Oporto, London (LINX), Amsterdam (AMS-IX), Frankfurt (DE
-CIX), Madrid, Miami (NAP of the Americas) and Washington (Equinix).

The use of top level equipments (eg: Cisco’s CRS) in a
highly redundant configuration, as well as, a consistent
choice of Tier One Transit Providers allows for a higher
QoS.
IP Transit also provides you with a highly skilled IP team
that can customize your special routing needs and optimize your efficiency.
Benefits
Economy: We provide the most competitive prices
compared to usual point-to-point solutions and freeing you
from international backbone connectivity issues.
Efficiency: We ensure the most direct and optimized
routing solution to your IP traffic (both IPv4 and IPv6).
Speed: Scalable activation allows a swifter connectivity,
much faster than traditional international circuits.
Direct Access: No contention IP ports. True bandwidth.
Flexibility: Easy upgradeable range of Internet bandwidth
accesses up to 100 Gbps (scalable from multiples of 2
Mbps).
Reliability: Fully redundant hardware and transmission
systems ensure the highest QoS.

Product specifications
IP Transit service can be accessed via any SDH, FE and
GE interface. Bandwidth can be contracted not only on a
flat fee basis but on a burstable mode as well (95 th percentile over a month traffic measures).
If you’re accessing our service outside Portugal, our IP
platform can be reached by using several submarine
cable systems like SMW3, SAT-3, Atlantis 2, ACE and
WACS, as well as, through our satellite earth station
interfacing with Intelsat, Eutelsat and Hispasat systems
(among others). Insider Portugal, Lisbon, Oporto and
Linda-a-Velha POP are available.
IP Transit provides connectivity for access to the MEO’s
data center located in Covilhã, one of the biggest in
Europe.
